Captain Marvel (2019)

You know, when I watched the movie—

Spoiler:
Nick Fury washes dishes.

—I didn't think anything of it. I thought he was just helping out, because at the very least it was the decent thing to do as an uninvited guest. It was only after discovering the list of MISANDRY!!!@ in the film that it become worth talking about, and only then to ridicule the idea that it's a problem.

I took a peek at the latest Nerdrotic and it seems most of them are believing we’re now living in Orwellian society.

It’s like how they can’t cope with the success DISCO has enjoyed and start moving goal posts from “CBS will cancel it because it’s so bad” to “this show is only popular because fans’ standards have gone low”. Actually my favorite reactions have been subscribers calling out on the youtubers for lying to them “you told us this would get cancelled/flop!!!” This is why such channels like Midnight’s Edge won’t be able to sustain itself when more and more followers realize how full of shit they are.

More often then not I keep seeing Ghostbusters ‘16 get brought up, like “mark my words, this will be another GB16 disaster”, except that film so far is the only one they’ve ever “predicted” to flop, but they seem to not have learned that it didn’t flop because it was an agenda film or SJW laden, but rather it flopped simply because it was simply a bad movie.

What is a bachelor supposed to do?

Nothing but paper plates and plastic cups, I guess...

Toss them out and buy new plates and cups! Also you would be surprised by what can make for good "dishes." Frisbies, baseball gloves, paper towels!!

One time I brought a date over to my pad. She asked me where my dishes were, I said I didn’t have a dish collection but that I do have an impressive DVD collection of Star Trek.

She then said she accidentally ordered an Uber driver and decided it would be rude not to take the ride after driving all the way over to pick her up. I think I overwhelmed her with my collection. :mallory::techman:

Dvd's you mention is another effective type of dish. Better yet if you have one of those bulky boxset covers. I just wonder if pots and pans count as dishes. I once ate cereral out of a pan. I still eat boiled eggs using one of those bigger measuring cups.

The thing I find funny about so many guys having a problem with female superheroes, is that I think I have at least as many, if not more superhero comics with a woman in the lead as I do men leads in my collection.
I have Batgirl, Batwoman, Black Widow, Mockingbird, Ms. Marvel, Captain Marvel (Carol Danvers), and Catwoman. For men I have Batman, Superman, Dr. Strange, Hulk, Iron Fist, Iron Man, and Thor. I have a few more but those are just the one I can think of without looking. I also have a bunch of non-superhero comics with women as the main character.

As a Trump supporter I have no interest in seeing this movie because I'm not interested in comic books, or movies based off of them, but I did know this movie was going to do well because a majority of people aren't bothered by the social message. Now, when I was a kid, I watched Ripley defeat the alien and thought nothing of the fact that she wasn't a man. Her gender didn't matter. She was equal because she wasn't special.
Then we should want more like Ripley and then some. And politics (speaking as someone right leaning and voted for Trump) should have nothing to do with movie choices.

Case in point-I love the movie "The American President" which is pretty left leaning and hits the GOP pretty hard at times. But, it is a fantastic and entertaining film, that challenges preconceptions. Why not be entertained?

If Alien came out now, the exact same people would complain about Ripley. The movies aren’t the problem, it’s a certain group of people who stir up even more people thanks to the Internet.
It's a backlash though. When Ripley was a female action hero, there wasn't a movement to call her a female action hero. She was just an action hero. Same when Wesley Snipes was a big movie star. He wasn't marketed as a black movie star, just a movie star.

That's how it was explained to me by a MRA anyway.

Imagine if TOS came out today! Sympathy for silocon mop create--how woke is that!?

I think they’re more upset that there’s more than one example now. Ripley was fine, as long as she’s the only one. Anything more in an assault on men... somehow. I can’t wrap my head around their thinking, but I do have a fully functioning brain unlike the average MRA.

I kind of blame the internet and social media. I think most of conflict has little to do with the characters but actually the daily interactions people have everyday. If a movie has a liberal perspective then it means it represents the people who they have been fighting with constantly online. The internet I think has been proven that if your online to long it leads to more unhappiness and depression so people are in a almost constant state of being triggered and of course click bait stuff comes along to add fuel to the fire. One thing Ripley,Buffy,Xenia etc never had to deal with was the internet as we have today.

Also you will notice these type of fights only happens around nerd culture stuff like Sci-Fi movies.shows, comics and games. Movies aimed for older adults like adult drama don't have these issues because in reality the audience for those movies are usually not living on the internet. Nobody is going to blast a Meryl Streep movie because it's a whole other audience. One that does have some crossover fans because I like those kinds of movies and so do others, but not everyone is like that. Some still look down at Nerd stuff and some just aren't into that kind of old school adult type of movie or are still young and it will be something they get into as their tastes start to mature.
