However we've already seen that some DIsco crew (Tilly, Detmer) WERE prepared to overlook that and sit with him. Guess the joining S31 thing revoked his "sit with redheads" card?
That's because Tilly is a saint. She is the sweetest, kindest, most human person on the ship, and I enjoy every second she's on screen.

I love Tilly and would follow her into the far reaches of hell is what I'm saying.

Mmm...no. I was just depressed a lot.
Now I want to hug you again.

Tilly and Stamets. They're both the cutest.

She had to pick a friend, though, and made the right choice.

Exactly. I'm fine with the idea that Pike looks like a different person (albeit similar in looks) now compared to the "Previously on Star Trek" Cage clips, as does Spock and Vina. They look different yet similar, but in my mind I can still know it's same characters.

So there's no reason for me to be equally OK with the fact that the Enterprise looks different. It looks different yet similar, but in my mind I can still know it's the same ship.

I have been rewatching TOS. The effects and props are terrible. I can't believe that the Enterprise as shown is even a ship. The electronics they show are not even using PCBs. This directly implies that TOS couldn't even hold the computational power I have in my house strewn across a few PCs, gaming consoles and mobile devices. The ship itself is obviously a model made by hand. It lacks details such as windows. It was fine for late 60s TV, but now it looks dated and silly. Thinking that a show set in the future would try to pawn that off as a believable interstellar vessel is nuts.

If the intro and transition did not finally explain this to people, they're not going to get the show, ever.

I don't get it at all. Whatever Spock is a Vulcanian and a member of the United Earth Space Probe Agency.

So the DSC version of the Enterprise is completely different to you?

WHO IS VINA IN STAR TREK? MELISSA GEORGE REVEALS HOW SHE RESHAPED THE CLASSIC ROLE FOR DISCOVERY
When you first see Vina with that perfect blonde hair and that perfect blue eyeshadow, you think, ‘Oh, she’s a bit off with the fairies.’ But she’s actually got such gravitas and is in fact very strong and grounded,” George explains. “So I decided I was going to embrace being a woman, with all her beauty and the hair, and those high heels, and being comfortable in my own skin. And that’s how I am in my own life, too. I think that women often get perceived in a certain way. If you’re ‘too pretty,’ you’re perceived as maybe not being smart enough. So, no, she’s not a victim. She’s everything, this woman. She’s clearly a woman in love, too. So decided to be comfortable and strong with it.
In preparing for the role of Vina, George says she watched the original performance by Susan Oliver and reveals that she actually re-recorded some of the classic dialogue from “The Cage" for the new Discovery episode. “They did put some of my voice on top of hers to kind of meld the two together,” she says. “I couldn’t recreate her acting because so much has changed the way we act today. There’s a different kind of inflection. But I wanted to watch it and pay homage to her and the way the character felt.”

I think it was the “apparently you’ve betrayed us” by sabotaging the spore drive and sending big messages that revoked that card. My assumption is that Tyler will eventually choose Discovery over S31 and rejoin as a regular crew member for the third season.

By the way, I think that this point made by Melissa George is relevant to the discussion.

People, the original series was made more than 50 years ago. A lot of things changed. If, for example, the actors were acting the way they did at the time, it would look like a parody. If they were wearing the exact same costumes, in HD it would seem a cheap Halloween party.

So Leland has called Spock "Commander" two weeks in a row now.........Has he been to the future, or does he just have knowledge of it? Is his full name Leland Daniels?
