. . . and I did! About 25 bucks on Amazon. It's terrific and I've only skimmed parts of it so far. The best TOS book in ages and ages. Bravo!!

That the Klingon model used for effects photography did have a two-tone (gray and pale green) color scheme.

Additional volumes will depend upon the sales of the first one, of course, and it's still too early to know how it's going.

With regards to a movie book, there are always possibilities.

 

Just curious if you have ever collected or categorized any deleted material from the movies or would you have to start from scratch? It appears the material from TOS has been a passion of yours for years and you have even stated that there is more ready if sales are good.

I'm just wondering if it's a apples and oranges situation. Cataloging stuff for quite a while vs. a new project from square one.

At any rate, since I had to move shortly after I got the book, I am going to pull it out of a box and re-read it again tonight. It has definite re-reading value as there is a lot to take in.

 

A little bit of both. I've categorized deleted material from some of the movies but I'd have to start from scratch for others.

Off the top of my head, I have some unseen material from TMP and TWOK that I got from Lincoln Enterprises back in the day. Even though the vast majority of the movie film frames that Lincoln sold came from trailers and old theater prints, they also cut-up some of the dailies, unfortunately.

Picked this up at a brick-and-mortar store in shrink-wrap a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had the chance to get into it yet, but when the thread popped up I wanted to just drop in to mention it.

Great book, well worth the price.

 

I bought a copy as a Christmas present to myself. It was such a thrill seeing shots that were familiar yet completely new to me. That scene from “Dagger of the Mind” with the bizarre voice prints: Nimoy’s expression is intriguing and I’m sorry that I’ll never hear the dialogue. Still, I’m grateful for a window into Trek never seen before.

More betterer, though, was watching my 8 year old utterly captivated by the book. It was like Sunday night at 6 pm in 1975 all over again. Thanks, alchemist, for the memories both old and new.

We used to have Holiday Trek here in the UK! Christmas mornings and summer too I think? It was worth not going out and playing as a kid I can tell you, especially with the heating on in winter!

It’s a US thing. Kaiser Broadcasting bought the initial TOS syndication package—even though it was under the magic number of episodes—and ran the show on the weekends. Markets in Boston, Chicago, Detroit, and others saw the show on Saturdays and Sundays in the early 70s through the mid-80s.

Kaiser was a small chain of independent UHF stations that specialized in second-run programs, old movies, local sports, and cartoons. Without a network affiliation, it could be flexible in scheduling and creative in its content choices. I believe that Kaiser’s commitment to the series is a key reason Star Trek Lives, to coin a phrase.

It's true that back then, WKBD TV 50 was appointment viewing on the weekends for me, much to bemusement of my family.

For a time in the super Trekkie years, mid -70s, it was on weekdays, I think. "Stripped" IIRC. I am feelng the feeling of watching a dull old movie on Sunday on channel 50, waiting for Star Trek, my one true entertainment love!
