Spoilers First hand behind the scenes information

I think you could accurately post that in every thread regarding news from Discovery or the Picard show, regardless of what it is.
Honestly, I think you could probably accurately comment that about any news anywhere that any community of humans interacts. This, too, shall pass. ;)

Fuck allegory.

The Federation collapsing might, however, provide an opportunity to jettison all the "evolved humans" and utopian crap. That would be a plus.
No thanks. As @Rahul notes that is completely at odds with one of Star Trek's core conceits.

Star Trek was literally built on avoiding this super-tired trope of "decadent humanity falling". That's the core foundation of the entire IP and it's unique selling point.

Imagine if other IP's try to retroactively include the one thing they were set out to avoid?
Imagine Game of Thrones, where suddenly in the last season everything is saved by the destined prince getting the throne and marring the princess and everything is sunshine and happyness. Imagine MARVEL suddenly deciging that no, superheroes should have no flaws at all and be perfect, never conflicting role-models all the time. Imagine Star Wars saying "nah, let's do away with all that fairy-tales and mythology-stuff, we want pure sci-fi now".

All of these would be equally jarring, and a gross mishandling of each property.
I'm onboard for the GoT one, mostly because it is disgusting as it stands, and needs to be mishandled.

In my opinion;)

I've actually seen Star Wars done pure scifi. IMO, its still Star Wars as well as being an improvement.

I believe that show is called Blakes Seven.

So how did you come by the information @Hoity Toity?
It's made belief :) It's plausible enough to pass as real, but call me a cynic, I think it's just someone who has a bit of time on their hands.
There is absolutely nothing critical or verifiable in this post. If this was real CBS legal would be on TrekBBS ass right now asking for IP address of the poster since they obviously broke some NDA. I have been on the Internetz long enough to know if something seems fake, it is fake.

If “Calypso” isn’t just an Outer Limits episode using Discovery sets and the ship is actually abandoned, I wonder if they’d transition the leads over to the Enterprise to make more use of this fancy new bridge.

Most of the info that has been posted has already been revealed in interviews BTS vids or concept art.

The only new stuff are things from Season 2 that haven't been in the show yet.

No it was the Discovery herself.

Just abandon Discovery to the future and set the show on the USS Enterprise? That's a bold strategy.

I'd imagine that if that's the case (which seems possible), it would only be for a few episodes at the tail end of the season, similar to how Battlestar Galactica had a fair few episodes set almost entirely on the Pegasus or Cylon Basestars in the second half of the show. Remember, most of the Discovery are designed to be easily converted to different finishes (as we saw in the premiere, the corridor and the ever-versatile brig-set becoming Spock's cabin. An all new set for the bridge, plus this war/d room, maybe a couple of virtual sets for the shuttlebay or engineering, and you could move over to a guest ship for a little while without it breaking the bank. Plus, as said, the possibility of an Enterprise-focused spin-off (though in that case, redressing the bulk of the Discovery sets and spending a lot of time there solidifying a look counts against it a little; TNG, DS9, and VGR shared sets as-needed, but nothing was regularly on two shows at once).

The discovery bridge set is 3 stories tall. The set you see on film is the second level. The level bellow is to get different low angles. The interesting thing is the space above is supposed to be for another room as the bridge was supposed to be 2 stories. Not sure if they ever plan to show it or it will end up being another TNG captains yaght.
I'm not sure I understand this, so maybe you could clarify. This seems to confirm that the bridge set is built on a raised platform, but it doesn't really look like a second story on top of a first one (like with the Shenzhou bridge set). Also, you make it sound like they actually built a third story, but haven't yet shown it, which would actually make the TNG captain's yacht a bad analogy, since that was never built.

*Shenzhou :p

Of course, they've been avoiding greenscreen effects out the windows entirely this season by flooding space with light in most scenes. To the point where I'm not even sure if Lorca's old window is still supposed to be a window anymore, since it's always been a flat white glow whenever we've seen it after it was converted into a lab.
I think they're still supposed to be windows as opposed to some sort of natural light simulator, because in one episode (“Point of Light” I think it was) we actually see Burnham opening the shutters, letting more light in from the outside.

If I recall correctly, there were actually strict rules about not overlapping art designers and production staff between Voyager and DS9, so in effect Paramount had to pay for two staffs doing much of the same work (and they shared some work on the down-low).

Hopefully this limitation won't be in effect for these new slew of spin-offs. I mean, Picard is in a different era, but Section 31 won't be, and who knows about the Academy show or the second planned mini-series. Shared sets might become more common, and they could be constantly modulating based on who's shooting there that month.

The Discovery Bridge Took one designer over a year and 160 hours to design. Before he got it several concepts were already made. In addition to the main designer another designer also put 160 hours into it to help refine it.

Manhours alone does not quality make. I know the production design on TMP was tortured and expensive but I think the final product there all those years ago beats Discovery by leagues and bounds. Discovery oozes too much of a "look at muh detail" more-is-more mentality. Cool in a wacky Lady Gaga fashion choice sense of the word, not something that looks the least bit plausible.

It was just done in post randomly prob cuz the director thought it would look cool.

Director meaning Alex Kurtzman himself, presumably? Or was he just calling in sick that week?

But again we have this word: cool. There's more to production design on a sci-fi show than chasing some immature notion of "cool".
