That Salvation show was complete shit, but I really liked the Carbera actor and he made a good, charismatic scientist in that show so I think ti is good casting.

Actually this could be a good premise. You know how Picard reacts, when something triggers his moral compass. He might be on a rogue mission in order to fix something which however is in direct violation of starfleet policy. Maybe he found a way to reverse the destruction of Romulus using some time travel gimmick.. Red matter / red angel; it’s all connected Some old friends might be after him (Captain Riker). They will have to decide between loyalty to Starfleet or to their former captain
I count 5 male characters and 3 female characters. I guess the sexist tradition of Star Trek continues of always having clearly less female characters than male ones.
Putting aside for the moment whether that qualifies as being "sexist" or not, Star Trek is hardly the only franchise guilty of that.
Of course not. There are many others which doesn't make it better at all. It is just disappointing that Star Trek which praises itself all the time for its representation of diversity, does obviously not care about an equal gender representation. TOS, TAS, TNG, DS9, VOY, ENT, DIS and now the Picard series. None could bother to give 50 % of the main roles to women or for a change why not the majority of roles to women? After all the opposite seems not to be a problem at all. There was not even one Star Trek series so far, where female main characters made up 40 % of the cast. It is pathetic and yes sexist!
There's a historic - and yes, sexist - belief in TV that if you have more than 1/3rd of the cast women, it will be seen as a "women's show" and men will stop watching.
Hell, look at what an outcry it has been in Star Wars when the movies suddenly aren't a a bunch of guys and pretty much just one single woman in the cast.
