Star Trek Discovery Renewed For Season 3

The very first Episode of Discovery, Georgiou is telling Burnham she's "ready for command." It's coming.
Then Michael committed mutiny, got stripped of rank and sentenced to prison. Granted she's since been pardoned and has had her rank restored, but she no longer seems to be in line for command.

I'm not sure putting her in the captain's chair makes her a more interesting character? Though she really isn't that interesting now, mainly there it seems for exposition.

So, just out of morbid curiosity, and because I'd never watched one of his videos before, I went and watched Doomcock's video on his reaction to this news. Wow wow wow! I could never have imagined what an obnoxious ass he would be. Jesus Christ.

It's almost like he's a parody of Discovery haters, but I guess...he's sincere? But he speaks like it's tongue-in-cheek? Very confusing, but massively massively obnoxious. The comments weren't any better.

To quote another franchise, "Who is the more foolish? The fool, or the fool who follows him?"

it does not and i think it would be a mistake. making her captain, or focusing on her ascension to that post would just further distract the storytelling from what really matters: michael's goals, motivations, even her interests. we know none of these things about her and we're a season and a half in to a show that she is ostensibly the primary focus of.

She still does seem to be a fairly blank slate. Let's hope the new writing team can add some texture to the character.

I don't know? Two different types of shows. And I wonder what kind of draw The Twilight Zone will have considering it has lain dormant for a while.

I think a not insignificant number of people who sign up for that show will try Discovery, and a not-insignificant percentage will continue watching it.

The big draw of this new Twilight Zone is Jordan Peele and his success with Get Out.

Well, it's got two selling points: The Twilight Zone and Jordan Peele. So they're not just selling it on nostalgia for the original Rod Serling version. Peele is a draw as well, and will bring his own fans.

That he has a scary new movie, "Us," coming out in March doesn't hurt either.

OMG. You're right. Us will be in theaters when the new Twilight Zone hits. *cha-ching*

Have to wait and see how it all plays out.

I know some people who are pretty excited for The Twilight Zone and are planning on starting up a free trial when it debuts.

Twilight Zone is an iconic name. And Jordan Peele has a fairly strong fanbase now.

I'm excited for the show. Have always loved The Twilight Zone. But audiences are fickle and you never really know what will be a hit until it starts running.

nice.

So far, I'm really enjoying season 2. I hope season 3 will be equally entertaining!

The renewal was pretty much a done deal, but congrats to Discovery. Great news.

The promotion of Michelle Paradise doesn't surprise me. Kurtzman was singing her praises in the interviews. She got a co-executive producer credit even before writing an episode. She wrote episode 9 (directed by Frakes), and then co-wrote the season finale with Kurtzman.

Kurtzman was not going to do this by himself anyway, For the second season, after the firing of Harberts and Berg, he hired James Duff to help him with showrunning. But Duff is now on the Picard staff so he had to hire a new co-showrunner.

That's definitely true. But, at the very least, there is a high interest level. It's a brand name that people have heard of (which can be enough these days), and which has been kept alive by Disney through their theme park ride.

Not the most scientific method, but the DSC s2 trailer from two months ago has 6.2M views, and the Twilight Zone trailer from six days ago has 7.7M views. Most won't subscribe of course, but a good amount of people are interested enough to check out the trailer.

Oh, the sweet, delicious tears of the haters make my day. During the first season, they smugly assured every person they found that it was CERTAIN it was going to be cancelled. When that didn't happen, they said that season 2 was SUCH terrible writing with horrible characters, that SURELY it would cancelled, how could it not be?

I think that during season 3, the craziest of the conspiracy theorists and haters will start running out of steam. With every success the new Trek has, the less effective and believable their BS will seem.

Congrats! One needn't like everything about it, and even if the storylines aren't what one wants, what one sees in characters or even individual strong scenes in a weak script are also valid. That and there's an addition in production staff as well. Let's see how they change things up!

After all, it took ENT four years to fully find itself. TNG needed two. It happens.

As many times as these folks have predicted cancellation, it seems at some point they'd scamper off with their tale between their legs.

I know I couldn't take that kind of consistent embarrassment.
It's a bit like the supermarket rags saying someone is pregnant or dead. Eventually they might be right,

Yes, they were incorrect about prematurely deciding if the show would be renewed or not. We'll not talk about killer Spock right now since that seems to be terrible writing unless there's a follow-up episode that shakes things up - the most obvious cliche being his doctors were alien agents, etc.

But do remember, these folks did tell us upfront they were acknowledging rumors. Everyone's already full of delicious tears that seems to be a popular dish for many nowadays, let's have something of substance instead. Would Kirk or Sisko or Janeway sit there and talk of tasty lacrimal secretions?
