As an aside, why do some people call Culber Culbert? Is it translated that in some foreign countries?

For me, it probably because of Stephen Colbert show. Culber sounds kind of incomplete.

Culber must have had the same barber Spock had when he was on Genesis.

And I was right last week! Saru ended up becoming the opposite of fearful: fearless.

EDIT: Arrghhhh! This is painful (a good painful!), Saru just doesn't know when to quit when Pike says he wouldn't be a good choice to go down on the planet surface. Saru? What the Hell are you doing?! It's like he's 14 or something.

This episode gets a 10 from me. Boey and Erika once again write the best episode of the season (so far). I’m sure some people will poke a couple of holes in it, but I thought it was a perfect Star Trek episode. You have the message, some good action, a bit of horror, and a deepening red angel mystery (with some new details)

They do go on about General Order 1 a lot. It was just a guideline back then.

Well, at last, we get to see Spock next week. Sort of I guess.

This episode was fairly decent, considering I can't stand the kelpians, sort of a typical Star Trek alien episode, so I enjoyed it on that level. It's certainly a better episode than the last few, that's for sure.

Very solid episode. 9/10. The work they have done on making the kelpians a complex race is so well done. They have come a long way from "my species was breed for one reason.. to sense the coming of death".

I do like that the communicator looks more primitive than the TOS one. Probably the only thing that looks more primitive.
