So far, do you think season 2 of Discovery is better than season 1?

I like how they are fixing sime of the more stupid ideas if series 1 like those god awful Klingons that looked nothing like Klingons.

I remember hearing people say that... in 1979. The more things change, the more they stay the same.

Those Klingons needed a face lift as TOS where just normal humans.

TNG did not need changing. It was "fixing " what wasn't broken...

I guess as a writer, I look at things a little differently than as a casual viewer, maybe.

I write. It doesn't grant us magical powers of perception.

In fact, I think we do it because we subconsciously realize that fact.

Those of us who aren't in it for the god complex of creating our own little worlds, of course. :)

The powers one gains by writing novels, novellas, short stories etc, aren't magical, they are observational and technical. Like one gets from say, going to school, or doing a job. Its like you think that a doctor diagnosing an illness is some kind of magic power as well. it isn't.

As for that 'god complex' you are talking about, for me, that is the furthest from the case. The kick I get from writing is encountering compelling characters and their compelling experiences in the compelling worlds the exist in and telling their stories as best I can. To me, it a journey of exploration and asking questions like how? and why? and what does that matter? How does A connect to B. When applied to other peoples work, such questions and experience in figuring them out can be illuminating, whereas many can't see such things because that's not what they are trained to do. you know, like that doctor diagnosing an illness.

Well, not many people around where I've set up shop watch much Star Trek. But, sure, nobody actually writes stories and posts on forums. That's like breaking a law of nature, right?

Yes, so far I prefer Season 2. Primarily because I've never cared much for the Klingons in any version of Star Trek.
