That’s not a surprise. It was around this time last year they changed the way lower tier donations worked in a way that caused a lot of back lash, cancelled pledges and eventually they had to revert. It was an early sign that they’d realised they needed to change things to become profitable.

Last nights latest Axanar live stream thingy seemed to get to pretty much the core of what Axanar has become. A 2 hour hate rant about “detractors” while shilling for more money. At least they’re not pretending anymore I guess.

To be fair, Alec’s pulling in a decent amount of cash from Patreon, so if those numbers stay stable it’s a good turnaround given it’s only been a few weeks, even if it is well short of his stated goal (although will anyone be surprised if they end up moving to the cheaper warehouse?).

It seems like everybody's hitting the "OMG we can't make a profit" wall. I recently got a message from Google saying that they're shutting down their Google+ services come April. The way they describe it they're pretty much killing everything but Search and Email.

The only reason I mention Patreon's troubles is that I can't wait to see how Alec reacts when he needs to start coughing up more of his ill-gotten gains to Patreon.

He does still have Johnathan Lane to twist things into a more positive light for him. I just hope for his sake he doesn't piss him off, then he'd really be in trouble.

Johnathan Lane is an idiot. He might have a certain talent at keeping the brainless Axalytes (who seem unable still, to realize they've been fed a pack of lies) mollified, but he couldn't pull one over on Carlos and his impeccable research even if he tried. Once LFIM gets sued again, the professionals arrayed against him will laugh Lane into obscurity.

He'll try to pay them in patches and cupcakes.

and Sushi. Maybe Jameson too if LFIM swiped some before RMB's abrupt departure.

We all did.

We all missed it.

Including AP.

On YouTube, Fan Film Factor's Jonathan Lane (top) and producer Alec Peters take aim at Axanar critics, find gold at the end of that rainbow.

Yep. The walls are closing in and C3PO and R2D2 are not on the other end of the commlink to shut it down. We may actually be seeing The End of AP’s very long pipe dream.

And yeah, I know it’s the wrong universe to use as an analogy, but at this point I don’t really give a toss. :p

i'm convinced this will continue for a VERY long time. they just claimed it might take years (again) to come up with the quarter million for the 2 shorts, in addition to the studio rent. what's another decade, right. It's like in Ultima VII Part Two: The Serpent Isle, when you try to free Captain Hawk from prison so you can go to Moonshade, but no matter how much money you offer the guards, they'll ALWAYS ask for more.

It saddens me to see how dumb people are that they can't see they are being swindled.
superficially it looks really cool... they have the first fan owned studio, and this great trailer... why not give them money? i wonder if much of this would have been avoided if the trekbbs threads were further up on top when you google axanar.

Personally, I think they should throw in the towel with Axanar, especially considering Mr. Peters ruined fan films for many.

i don't think this is going to happen. they made ~2 million so far and continue to rake in about 3k a month. would you stop? free money! i bet you 69/420 quatloos that in 5 years time this will still go on. but i suppose they might downsize again. and probably again. i have a photo from the future as to what ares studios v 16.3 is going to look like in 2027. This time they thought about the electric grid (see bottom right)
