Spoilers General Disco Chat Thread

The only way they could be as important as Spock is if Klaang was an ancestor of Morgh (the Klingon shot in the pilot episode of ENT and taken back to Kronos).

For all we know, that's exactly what he is. I thought I recognized Worf's finesse when he managed to upset the hick into shooting him.:klingon:

Trip said that they had evolved in that same episode, though they still had their trigger happy country bumpkins...:rommie:

Well, Star Trek is the story of Spock's family obviously ;)

Wait, it isn't?

(It is, of course. Wasn't T'Pol originally supposed to be T'Pau? Glad she wasn't, and I'd love to see her elderly self on Disco someday as a living Easter egg. Although I doubt Jolene would come back for the role...)

I believe so about T'Pau, but I believe Jolene as expressed a desire to not be in Star Trek anymore.

I've given up on the concept of retirement. "Retirement? What's that?" :p But anyway...

I think the people who prefer DSC S2 over DSC S1 should be grateful for Discovery's faster pace. If it moved at the pace of previous Star Trek series, we'd still be in the midst of the Lorca storyline and we'd still be in the midst of a tone they don't prefer.

"It would be better if they waited until _____." No. DSC should tell the story it wants, when it wants, then move on to the next thing, with the continuing characters' stories building on top of each arc. The Klingon War and the Mirror Universe fit the tone of S1 better than they would've S2.

to be fair, we don't know that yet, with only one episode of S2 and only an idea of what season 2 is about. I mean, I agree with the rest of your statement, but that specific assumption is premature.

If they retire, who'll play the old people? Young people in make-up? That always looks fake.

Well, I'm not going to lie... T'Pol's probably the only character who'd still be alive and, since I'm not a fan of ENT, I'm not exactly chomping at the bit to see anyone from that series. And since it's the only series that takes place before DSC, I think we're good. ;)

But, otherwise, yeah. You end up with results like Peter Weyland in Prometheus.

Exactly! That one was faker looking than a three Euro bill!!:rommie:

They did a pretty convincing job aging Mahershala Ali in the new season of True Detective. It's some of the best old age makeup I've ever seen.

Yes, she married well and retired. (I envy her -- getting ready to go to work tomorrow!)
Blalock retired but not fully. She must still have SOME interest in acting as she does still occasionally show up in things, just not very successful things. If she was willing to do a TV-movie for Pixl channel, hard to imagine she'd say no to CBS money, if they really wanted her on the show for a one-off appearance.

I just don't see it happening, beyond a name drop about T'Pol some time.

ENT wasn't exactly an unmitigated success... So she had a good start.

I think it's one of those things that has done better in the years since. Anyway I like it quite a bit (just not that first season.. but ENT is not alone in that regard)

I don't know many shows that are successes without mitigation, but I thought she did a very good job with her character, even if she had to work around things that might have otherwise limited her.

What I mean is that it was canceled for low ratings.
