USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

We won’t accept less than grainy footage of the original model shots crudely composited.

And none of that cleaned-up TOS-R nonsense. There better be some stray hairs and 50+ years of dirt and decay.

 

My feeling is Spock had something to do with the Enterprise's system failures to prevent them from following him after the Red Bursts.

 

Why aren't there any conspiracy theories about the readout saying there are supposed to be 430 people on-board, but one person is missing, versus Burnham's verbal report that there are 203 people aboard, just as there should be? Or the proportions of the given dimensions don't match the shape of the new ship (either version)? C'mon, if this is a secret message, I want to get to the bottom of it.

 

That happened for several pages a last month when the BTS video that first showed that screen came out.

 

Yeah, they were noted, but I want some crackpot stuff, like "the diagram shows detailed plans for repairs that weren't needed until five minutes ago." Burnham was secretly replaced by mirror-Burnham, who can't read english, so she bluffed with the number of crew from the mirror-Enterprise. The nacelle pylons and neck pivot and extend, like on Voyager, and the entire ship can retract into itself like a pufferfish.

 

Is it possible that the 430 number is what the ship had before starting Pike's 5 Year Mission and upon returning the number has dwindled down to 203 due to unforeseen circumstances out there?


Or perhaps 430 is the regular compliment but only a little over 200 volunteered to go on said 5 Year mission?

 

Shit, all that's established is that the week they went to Talos standard complement was 200 people. They might have doubled that two weeks later, or halved it a month before.

 

What Stamets has up would be records. By definition, those would predate the present. And Pike was sent out on a five-year mission beyond the reach of Starfleet proper.

The conclusion is automatic: he has already lost 227 people and two pairs of perfectly good pylons on the course of that mission, and has only managed to get replacements for the latter.

TOS-R is some of the worst CGI I have ever seen in my live! And I have seen a lot of fan renders.

Yeah, I'd prefer grainy footage and scratches in the image 1000x times over the TOS-R vfx!
(They also don't fit with the rest of the show - the entire show is fixed camera shots, with only pans and tilts as movement, rarely a dolly, and not even zooms, during vfx shots completely static. Yet in all of the remastered space shots, the camera is swirling around like in a video-game with bad camera control!)

 

203 now, 430 after the major repairs are done?

 

Maybe they build crew space in all the empty areas Discovery showed us starships have.

I posted images last page. This is from a 580p streaming copy, I'm sure the 720p/1080p version would be easier to read.

 

I still think that's significantly less neck than on the final model but maybe I'll try to overlay them later and check on it.

 

Ok, I've done a little bit of lining up (the display image isn't really clear enough for an overlay to be useful) and it seems like while you're right that the neck size isn't different, the overall proportions of the ship are a bit adjusted, which is I think why it seems a little less squashed to me in the final model.



Notably, the engineering section and the nacelles seem like they might be scaled back a bit when matched against the diameter of the saucer.
