After watching 'Brother' twice I am convinced I would love to see a Captain Pike spin-off from Discovery.

Are there any others out there who would wish the same?

I know we haven't seen Spock or Number One yet and the bridge of the USS Enterprise probably won't be shown until the end of this second season of DSC, but I was so convinced by Anson Mount's performance...

Could a Pike-led series be different enough from Discovery though?

    Your thoughts please!

I haven’t watched it yet, but I would definitely go for a series set on the original 1701, especially if they did it episodically, five year mission, strange new worlds. War arcs and galactic anomalies didn’t get me hooked on Trek, and I can’t imagine more of them holding my attention for much longer.

Not sure yet but I'm sure CBS is thinking about it.

A Pike/Enterprise series sounds a lot better than the Georgiou spin-off they have planned. But lets wait. There's still ways I fear they may irredeemably ruin these versions of the characters.

Based solely on the one episode, I would say yes, absolutely.

I'm all for the diversification of Trek, but there's needs to be a solid core of traditional Trek adventures, so the franchise doesn't devolve into just anything and everything.

    Could it work? Definitely.

Should they do it? As big a fan as I am of TOS and the TOS era, I'd say: No.

Why? It would end up being a JJ/TOS hybrid, and I think part of the popularity of Pike was the fact we didn't see mch of him; and I think one Season of the character of ST: D is just enough to 'flesh him out' - without going overboard. Besides in 10 or so years, we KNOW where he'll end up.

If they really want to do an updated TOS Hybrid, I'd rather they just recast Kirk and Co. for TV/Streaming again, and give us an updated Star Trek (maybe finish more of the Post Season 3 TOS 'five year mission'.)

I think they should do a Pike Enterprise spin-off, however they’d have to change Discovery enough to make it different. Maybe Discovery does a time jump at the end of season 2? The one thing that would hamper a Pike spin-off possibility is if they show in this season how he ended up in the wheelchair.

Yes. Anson Mount nailed it. If CBS is watching the gushing over his performance, they should be scrambling to get the characters locked into long term contracts to do a series or some TV movies or something.

I won't be surprised if they already have.

If we got a Pike series, it's a given that we'd eventually see Lt / LtCmdr / Cmdr James T. Kirk on the screen, as well as other TOS characters. Heck, I'm sure they'll pop up on Discovery sooner or later. And when Mount wants to move on with his career, we'll get to see him promoted to Fleet Captain and Kirk take over the Enterprise.

If Pike is in command of the Discovery, why would he need a spinoff?

Because that story arc won't last beyond Season 2, and he'll go back to the Enterprise.

How do we know he won’t stay as captain after S2? Was this mentioned somewhere? I’m just asking because I haven’t heard that.

I would definitely prefer it much much more over a Section 31 show.

The Enterprise is being repaired and he is canonically the captain of the Enterprise until he hands it over to Kirk. It just wouldn't make sense for him to abandon the Enterprise and stay on the Discovery for multiple years.

If Pike gets his own spin-off, he will go from have Burnham talk down to him to having number one talk down to him....

I voted yes. I would love to see this! He was in command of Enterprise for 10 years (two consecutive five-year missions) so there is a lot of story to tell. Season 2 of DSC has just begun, but I'd like to see if there were any effects from the Talosian mind control? What effect did being with Vina and being home have on him?

Plus we would be able to see some great moments with Number One (including some great exchanges with Spock) as well!

I would love to see this!

No I’m just sick of the large number of new shows and movies made in 2018 having men (particularly white, straight men) being made to look stupid and/Or a sexual deviant. I’m sure you would be the first to moan if Pike was talking down to Burnham
