I'm usually around here late at night before going to bed or checking in once or twice on my days off from work. How many hours a week do you have for "mildly amusing?"
"I hate this thing and everything about it, so I will spend hours of my day ranting about it!!"![]()
Meh, this place would be pretty boring without the people who are critical of Discovery.
The reverse can also be annoying.Critical is fine. Debate over the good, the bad, the merits of its strengths and the bitterness of it's flaws is not only acceptable, but what makes discussion interesting.
What's not is people who have had nothing but disgust or disinterest for it since before it aired bringing toxicity into what should be an enjoyable debate. If there's NOTHING you like about it, stop watching and move along.
We're into the second season now, it's not going away, so what's happening is those who are angry that their narrow vision of Star Trek isn't on the screen are trying to ruin this place for anyone who enjoys even the smallest part of it.
And the idea that you hate a show with so much passion, and have no interest in watching it, yet spend hours of your day spewing venom at it is, frankly, disturbing.
Yes?Yes, so annoying when people enjoy something and have nothing but praise!
This is perhaps one of the saddest comments on the human condition that I have ever seen.Yes?
It doesn’t annoy me, but it does annoy some people.

Personally, back when I was younger and did electronic music, I hated it when people just gave me praise and told me it was great. I really wanted the flaws to be pointed out so I could work to improve my craft.
Criticism is meant to be constructive, what we have here are people complaining that it’s different from a show made decades ago.
Beyond that, they're people who hate it, hate everything about it, and claim they won't ever watch another episode. But still feel the need to inject themselves into the discussion. Maybe I should spend my day screaming at fans of DC movies how much all their movies suck.
Nah. I like their comics and cartoons, but gave up on their films long ago. It's not worth my time or energy to be a baby about it.
Speaking as someone highly critical of DSC (but liked a lot about it), I'm here to talk about what works and doesn't work, things we like and things we don't like.Beyond that, they're people who hate it, hate everything about it, and claim they won't ever watch another episode. But still feel the need to inject themselves into the discussion.
I think we have quite a small number of true haters — by Trek board standards — so the sniping at people who dare to criticize the show gets quite old. It does nothing to encourage thoughtful discourse.
