What's your point? On STD, they straight up wear the Black Badges in public to identify themselves as Section 31 to everyone.

That's continuing into Season 2 as well based on the trailer.

There's precedent, in Star Trek, for a covert organization to wear identifying clothing or items that make it clear they're part of a covert organization. The Secret Service, for a real life example, is often seen and easily identified. That being said, what does any of this have to do with what lore Discovery has added to Star Trek?

'Nothing is necessary' could be used to justify anything really.

Thanks for stating the obvious. So that's your reaction when someone's opinion that you value disagrees with you.. 'just his opinion' interesting.

Were they wearing the black uniforms in public to identify themselves as Section 31? Nope.

The closest justification you'd have for that is ST Enterprise, and even that shitty show did a better job keeping them covert.

Except that not many folks who out of desperation violate the kinds of cultural taboos we have against cannibalism would then boast about doing so to taunt their enemies, as if it somehow enlarges them or makes them appear intimidating. Even as a rationalization it doesn't ring true, sorry.

It adds to it, it doesn't bend it. Nothing in that episode contradicts Sarek's relationship to Spock in TOS or TNG.

Klingon cannibalism was actually introduced in Season 1 of TNG during "Heart of Glory".

"KORRIS: Brother, I knew you would come. (Worf climbs the ladder) Now I, we have a chance. I could not do it alone, but I would rather die here, than let the traitors of Kling pick the meat from my bones. With you it will work."

I guess Georgiou being eaten was a posthumous punishment for her, representing the Shenzhou crew which had disgraced their dead, because of her orders.

If Georgiou had survived she would have also been killed and eaten. Even if the Klingons weren't starving.

Pretty sure that line is being metaphorical.

    Yup. That's the point.
I'm always interested in others opinions. I do not agree with Chuck on this point regarding Discovery or Georgiou. I don't need anyone to agree with me, much less someone on the internet whom I do not know and who does not know me.

I have stated my opinions fairly clearly regarding what Discovery has added to Star Trek lore, which, in my opinion, has had more positive than negative. Since there is plenty of individuals voicing the negative I will voice the positive.

It added the Crossfield Class Starship and made Ralph McQuarrie's design into more than just space debris in "The Best of Both Worlds".

It also opened up the 23rd Century, so that time period is not just synonymous with TOS.

"An omission." It was playing hide-and-seek, partially hiding behind a corner in Spacedock.

@Kane_Steel, you keep claiming that the black badges publicly identify Section 31 as being Section 31, but that's an assumption that isn't actually based on anything in the series itself.

There's evidence in the latest Season 2 trailer.

You can make videos like this for all the TV series and movies, not just Discovery
    This means squat all.

I don’t think that is a replicator like the ones they use in the 24th century. That’s like a precursor to one.

Hilarious. The first thing Janeway mentions is "no plasma weapons". I guess she missed the class on the 23rd Century attack on the Earth Outposts along the Romulan Neutral Zone by a Romulan ship using a plasma weapon. :guffaw:
