News Georgiou Section 31 Series officially announced:

I'm holding off on my opinion until I see how They develop/refine the character in DISCOVERY's Season-2.
After that, I'll give it a gander and then decide how I feel about it.

Betcha anything it’s going to be called Star Trek: Section 31. Also I look forward to it, shows us that the future ain’t always sunshine and roses on the other side

I approve. Now let’s also BBL (give him his own show), kill off Boringham on STD and we can have some Trek worth watching.

Except that's not what's going on here. This isn't a dark side of Star Trek's universe, this is literally a character from a dark universe doing bad things in ours. If you want a Star Trek series that really deals with heroes facing dark times and making hard choices that don't reflect a perfect utopian society, Deep Space Nine did that in spades.

Come back Michael Dorn and Captain Worf, all is forgiven.

A show where a sapient-eating, genocide-comitting psycopath is the lead? No thanks.

Had it been Captain Georgiou of the Shenzhou, great. But this...
I found the PU Georgiou to be rather boring but the former Emperor should be more interesting and will fit in well with S31, we will finally get to see more of S31 and if the storylines are anything like what we saw in DS9 with Sloan then I am all for it.

Hoping we will see PU Lorca sooner or later as well, assuming Isaacs wants to.

I approve, pending the following;
-BBL
-Michele Yeoh gets to show off her skills every episode
-No Michael Boringham crossover episodes

It might be interesting, but I think it would be even more interesting if you found a way to incorporate the Romulan Tal'Shiar and the Cardassian Obsidian Order into this series. That probably isn't possible, but I would probably like that series more than just the simple Federation Section 31 show.

It could be a good show. My big concern is it’s going to be like “24 in space” with a message that “Empathy is weakness when security is at stake”. Which is the exact opposite of the point of Trek and exact opposite of message we need right now.

Get Alan Van Sprang involved in this and spin it directly off of DSC Season 2, and you've got my attention and my interest.

I don’t think I’ve ever been less enthusiastic about the premise for a Star Trek project than I am about this one. Even the funny cartoon.

Although I love Michelle Yeoh and would happily watch more of her in Trek, even as the former Emperor, the concept of a Section 31 Series just turns me off completely. I’ve talked at great length before about my issues with Section 31 as a concept so I won’t repeat it all here. I’ll just sum it up by saying that Section 31 goes beyond ‘utopias are unrealistic’. DS9 did that, challenge the utopia, and it did it well, maintaining the core values of Star Trek while allowing a dose of reality to mix with the idealism. In that world one man making big claims is forgivable. But Section 31 as a real, widespread branch of Intelligence operating with Starfleet Command’s tacit approval? That’s a game changer. It says that Star Trek’s base ideal that we can be better than we are, and that we can live by our principles, is nothing more than a naïve lie. It plays into some of the nastiest of political ideas, and makes me very uncomfortable in this fictional property.

My more narrative based issue with Section 31 is that it has become shorthand for ‘cool’ in the Trekverse. Everything remotely secret or intelligence led has become “section 31” for extra cool points. It’s become cartoonish in its overuse, which not only dulls the narrative and moral impact of what they actually do – torture, genocide, kidnap, assassination - and with each appearance more brazen than the last becomes harder to accept as a clandestine organisation. It would be as though the Russians arrived in Salisbury wearing KGB flak jackets and carrying a case marked TOP SECRET NOVICHOK.

This is getting too much for me. It's like the Marvel shows. I hope they stretch these so out that they air when the other isn't otherwise I don't think I can keep up with them all and I watch a huge amount of TV due to family medical restrictions keeping me stationary.

- Disco
- Picard
- Georgiou
- Animated 1
- Animated 2

The Khan one was cancelled right? Wasn't there another one announced recently?

Khan is in limbo. Might or might not be canceled. But Starfleet Academy is still in development, albeit not officially announced.

Deadline is reporting the Michelle Yeoh series is now official. Personally, I'd rather see a series on the Shenzhou, pre or post-Burnham. I liked Prime Georgiou better than the mirror version. Although I guess it would then suffer from us knowing when and how she dies and the ship goes down.

I'm 50/50. I kind of want to see how things develop on season 2 of Disco, and where her character goes before I judge whether or not this new show is worthwhile. But I do kind of agree with a lot of the comments I'm reading. But then again, part of me kind of feels like it could be good.
