Progress is coming along slowly but surely. The fact that every bridge module is unique, and I have to build both a TMP version and a TWOK version, is the cause of the slow progress. For instance, the TMP weapons console is different in a few ways compared to it's TWOK counterpart. The TMP version goes all the way up to the lower ceiling, is unbroken in the middle, and has a flat monitor and different greebly panel to the left of the person manning the console.

Here's a WIP of the TMP version:

and here's a WIP of the TWOK version, sans greebles. The elliptical monitor was not present on the Enterprise in TWOK, but shows up on The Reliant and on the Enterprise bridge in TSFS, so I've included it here to show the difference:

Also, regarding the moulding surrounding each of the console stations. In TMP, this moulding appears unbroken, surrounding several consoles on each wall, to give the appearance of a unified bank of consoles. In TWOK, when the bridge stations were switched around, this moulding was reconfigured to surround each individual staiton. This would allow changing of the bridge stations a lot more easily for the purposes of depicting another bridge, or pulling out the segments to allow for ease of filming scenes.

Here the starboard side of the TMP bridge, with it's unbroken moulding surrounding (from left to right) the Artificial Gravity Control, Damage and Repair, Internal Security, and Engineering stations:

And here's the starboard side of the TWOK bridge, with the moulding surrounding (from left to right) the individual Artifical Gravity Control, Damage and Repair, Environmental Control, and Science stations.

Still a lot of work to be done! Helm, main viewer, TWOK greebles, console graphics, viewscreen graphics, and I still need to remodel both the TMP and TWOK versions of the captain's chair and crew chairs.

This is great! I never realised there were so many minor differences. I just thought they rearranged a couple of the stations, gave it a repaint, reupholstered the chairs and added some fire extinguishers.

Appreciate the research and time you've put into this. It's paying off as these are already looking amazing.

Excellent. What I love about this sort of thing vs. The Real World is that you can take the same shot of both versions in a way they never could (or would have wanted to) back then.

It would be interesting to find out what changes were made because of a creative difference and what changes were made because something broke or wasn't re-assembled right.

    It's ARCHEOLOGY!

I had read somewhere that the weapons alcove was basically just vacuformed plastic and that it was extremely flimsy. People would knock into it and it would almost collapse, or so I've read.

I'll need to go back and look at my screencaps, but are you sure the weapons alcove extended beyond the rim of the ceiling there? I thought it was pretty much lined up with the edge.

I fully expect @Donny to include the coffee stain from Shatners drink on the command chair.

It's hard to tell for sure from any screencaps, due to the fact that the lighting is so even on that edge, but the nature of the two shapes would dictate that the top straight edge of the weapon's console would intersect the curved edge of the ceiling. This is most apparent to the immediate right of the sonobuoy casing that the crewman is passing up into the ceiling.

It’s also apparent when studying schematics of the bridge, confirming that straight top edge of the weapon’s console.

Btw, does anyone know of any better reference for the "mini-transporter" units that are part of the TMP weapon's console? These units were replaced by greeble panels in TWOK and beyond, but the original TMP schematics point to these as transporter units, and Phase II schems also point to there being transporters on the bridge. (FYI, the "Artificial Gravity Control station to the right of the main viewer features graphics that would indicate that it was originally supposed to be the control panel for these devices). I believe @Bill Thompson has modeled them for his project to great effect, but wondering if there's any better production reference out there, which might show the inside of these chambers in better detail.

I don't think I've heard this story. Do tell.

Via this thread, I'll try to document as many of the changes between the different versions as I can. As a matter of fact, the only way I could justify (to myself) rebuilding this bridge was to make the TMP/Reliant/TVH versions as well. And since my showcase threads have in recent years also become a learning resource for others, it behooves me to document all the differences between the bridges that I may personally discover through my work.

Actually I'm probably thinking of Takei's coffee (or tea?) from TUC.
