I have been getting a lot of ads regarding a company that puts on a Star Trek cruise once or twice a year. I guess it's like a floating convention. Of the course the ads make everything look awesome and slick with lots of Trek stars. My question, has anyone here gone on one and what do they think?

I haven't been on one, but judging by the last few big incidents with cruise ships, I don't think it's something I would be interested in. Also, I'm guessing it's not going to be one of those enormous Carnival cruises, probably a smaller more wonky one.

However - I would TOTALLY be down for a Star Trek booze cruise!! (like a one night thing)

I want to go so bad! But way out of my price range. Also my boyfriend said a hard no to any themed cruise :(

I've just now found this thread. I went on the Star Trek cruise last year. I loved it, and would definitely do it again. The only downside is that it's expensive, especially so for me since I have to fly across the country, so it's not something I can do every year. It was a really great experience, met several of the actors just hanging out around the ship, saw some great shows (like a book reading by LeVar Burton), decorations were awesome, etc. You can read a lot more about it in this thread: Star Trek The Cruise?

This year's cruise just set sail yesterday, with Wil Wheaton as captain. Next year's cruise has already been announced as well. Normally they do them in the first week of January (which is very convenient because I get the holidays off and can just extend out my vacation time by a week), but next year it will be in March. It has also changed from being with Norwegian Cruise Line (my personal favorite) to Royal Caribbean, who I'm not very thrilled about. So, I'm not too sad to be missing out next year. However they will have Kate Mulgrew as captain, who is my favorite captain next to Picard, so I am a little sad that I'll miss that!

If I could find some nice young(ish) lady to accompany me dressed as an Orion Slave Girl, I'd consider it

I talked myself into going, then I looked at the prices...flying to Miami and then paying cruise fair is far too expensive for two people. Especially because my husband isn’t as interested in going as I am.

How many crank calls must the guy in the engine room get on this type of thing?

It might be easier to find a young lady to accompany you if you don't dress in the slave girl outfit.

I asked for that I suppose
A little discreet comma in my sentence would have avoided confusion

"Nice" girls don't dress in the Orion slave outfit ;)

Also, tell me I'm not the only one who scrolled past the thread on the main screen and thought it said "Star Trek Curse"
I thought it was a new series.
Star Trek Voyager
Star Trek Discovery
Star Trek Cruise:ack:

I went on the Shatner one and it was a lot of fun. Cool shows and panels, and you'll often run into cast members on the deck or in an elevator, etc. Well worth it!

That's the one where the captain is always stopping the bomb from going off at the last second and he's always running. Like literally every episode he's running.

The new Picard series is going to be a 24th century version of The Love Boat. Picard will be Captain Stubing, Geordi will be Isaac the bartender.

Who's ready for The Pon Farr Boat?

I enjoyed it but I’m come to the conclusion that I’m not much of a Star Trek fan. People there seem to be “obsessed” with it. Made me feel somewhat normal. :)
The script reading was probably the best show, but I did enjoy the evolution play. Hard to believe that is actually true.
Issacs was the VIP of the trip as he seem to be in everything. He truly seem to enjoy the trip and was very friendly. I was surprised he didn’t appear the the last celebrity heads game which is probably the hardest I laughed for a long time. Crosby was drunk throughout the whole thing.

I went on the last two and it was a thousand times better than a convention. Some of the celebrities are super friendly and interact with us, and you see them doing things other than answering the same questions over and over. If you are interested, signing up with a referral to someone who was on the 2019 cruise gets you a $100 credit to spend on board. Just give my name, Julie Miller, when you book. I will get a credit too and I will give some of MY credit to you also for an extra incentive.
