"Established history", in terms of TOS, is mostly a blank slate. That was kind of my point earlier. A lot of what fans think we consider established Trek history, was never established in any televised or motion picture Trek. Most of it was fanon that became a kind of 'agreed framework' around which we all base our assumptions about pre-TOS Star Trek. So what feels like ass-pulls by ENT, the '09 Trek and DSC, are usually not stepping on the toes of anything. Except the Okuda's conjectures. ;)

Star Trek is full of retcons. Star Trek was set into the future, until TWOK established it in the 23rd century. Trill had bumpy foreheads and the symbiont dominated until it wasn't. Starfleet didn't admit female captains, until it did. And on and on.

You know, I've seen that episode I don't know how many times over the past, what seventeen years since it aired (?) and this is the first time I noticed the front of the church is shaped like an arrowhead.

Canon should be amended to include The Orville. It was never stated anywhere in Star Trek that the Union, Ed Mercer, Maclans, Krill or anything else from The Orville didn't exist.

No love for Galaxy Quest? Harsh.

Also, from a canon point of view, the Union is demonstrated to at least include Earth as a member and a world cannot join the Federation unless they are united in that decision. So, flag on the play here :D

    Nope.

Also, since you posted so quickly I'll add my edited response to Orville canocity below:

If we're adding to canon, then I nominate Forbidden Planet.

The Orville takes place about 40 years after Nemesis, so maybe we'll see it starting to take shape in the Picard series. ;)

Fits better with canon than either of the other two suggestions.

    Hopefully Picard negotiates with Moclans.

Love the idea. When would you retcon it in the timeline?
My retcon idea: The C-57D could be an UESPA exploration ship. Since Forbidden Planet was released in 1956, would that make it about 9 years before the "Cage"? Or should we subtract 12 more years from it like they did during "The Menagerie" for the "Cage" retcon, so about 21 years before the Cage or 33 years before TOS. Based on the ship's age and crew size, by "Charlie X" timeline, it could have been sold-out-of-service and converted to a transport such as the Antares.

In my fanon timeline I placed it before Enterprise.

I'd rather saw my testicles off with a jagged rusty tin can top soaked in hot sauce. Slowly.

    YMMV of course.

...How would that even work? "Ahead Warp Factor One, Mr. Sulu. By the way, the Union and the Krill don't exist."
    Seconded! :techman:

I thought we were supposed to accept anything we haven't seen on screen before as having existed all along. Therefore Buffy The Vampire Slayer actually happened in the Star Trek universe. That's right. Vampires, demons and werewolves are now in Star Trek because I said so. It doesn't matter that we've gone 50 years without a hint of them. They're just as Canon as Spore drive, pre TOS cloaking devices and Spock's sister because Discovery I said so.
