Ugh, I wish it was Online in Canada at the same time it airs on TV, I want to take some screen caps.

Definitely a very strong episode.

Loved Rainn Wilson.

Would it be way too early for the Federation to know about Latinum, if they don't know about the Ferengi until TNG?

If we don't get any episodes in Season 2, I hope we continue to see Short Trek followups to Calypso and Escape Artist.

Is Latinum a Ferengi only thing?

IIRC, it's Ferengi but it was used throughout the Quadrant in DS9 and spilled over into other Star Trek. Chakotay asks Paris if he sold the Maquis out for Latinum in "Caretaker" and Picard mentions Latinum in Insurrection. So, I guess it's the Currency Of Space used by anyone who wasn't too good to use money.

Lots of species used it.

That's what I thought.

Well, they're still using 'credits' here in the Federation. To me it would be like someone being a gold bug, but doesn't know about the Ferengi.

But the whole continuity with the Ferengi in early TNG never made much sense anyway. I'd rather they retconned the whole thing.

I think this was a solid 8. It was really enjoyable and really enjoyed the twist in the end. Seeing more of the non-Starfleet world of Star Trek is always a plus and we got several locations here. Rain Wilson is just really good as Mudd. I've felt for a long time you could easily do a Trek show that didn't have Starfleet at all or just had them on the fringe showing up once in a while in a small role. I think this episode was solid proof it will work and work well.

Do I want a Mudd spin off? I don't know yet. I would certainly love a Star Trek underworld style show. Kind of like how Star Wars is getting the Mandalorian show I would love it we got something focused on bounty hunters, smugglers, Orions, etc how that world is setup and structured in Star Trek with both the good and bad.

Uhhhh.... that threw me a loop. And it killed some time. It's not bad but I don't think it's as good as the other shorts. I give it a 6.

Yes, you read that right.

Weird. I thought it was the second-strongest of the shorts. Calypso was still the best, but this was a great lighthearted romp. The Saru/Tilly shorts provided a bit of nice character development, but didn't make much sense otherwise for somewhat different reasons.

I'd rank them:

1. "Calypso" Best overall story and sci-fi piece. Great performances, engaging story....etc
2. "The Escape Artist" Brought me right back to TOS's charming, silly little episodes like Tribbles and I,Mudd.
3. "Brightest Star" Looked great, and I like Saru, but this made very little sense to me.
4. "Runaway" OK I guess. Cute, but almost nothing happens. Like, nothing.

The character stuff is what I like. And "Brightest Star"s visuals help it a lot. "The Escape Artist"... there's nothing wrong with it, but it's too rompy for me whereas "Runaway" was more quirky, and I lean more towards quirk than romp. I think this is definitely more a case of personal tastes than anything else.

Yeah. That was really great. Seriously. The android gambit from TOS. This is what I need. Thank you!

Calypso will go down as the best of the short treks but this was really good stuff.

Mudd’s ship appears to be Kitbash of Federation and Klingon ship parts

The USS De Milo appears to be a Hoover Class starship, but with a different saucer? Hard to tell

I enjoyed this one more than any of the Short Treks......I see why they saved it for last. I did not see the twist coming. Good stuff!

It was OK.

I liked the look of the tellarite. I prefer this to the TOS and ENT versions, though I wouldn't want to be with their females for sure (how did Mudd do it? or was that one of the robot Mudds).

The Orion woman though I liked, but then again I have liked all the Orion females so far.

I LOVED it - it's the best of the bunch for me.

I especially liked the fact that you assume the cuts to the bits with Mudd and the other Bounty Hunters are flashbacks, but they weren't <--- Those were OTHER Hunters taken in by the same scam.:rommie:
HA---didn't think of that! Nice.
