Your #1 Star Trek Wish for 2019...

I want positive news about a new movie. I keep seeing people say we don't need a movie because of all the trek on TV and that makes me a little sad. As much as I appreciate Trek coming back to TV, Star Trek Beyond was a positive experience for me that I want to see another film with those characters, including Jaylah. The fact that Paramount can't get it's crap together and it's hurting the Kelvin Universe films makes me really disappointed.

Hoping CBS reconsiders on flooding the streaming waves on too much Star Trek; allow a series to grow and be successful before pulling an JAG/NCIS or a CSI with multiple series out there.

Great post.

Let’s start the year by wishing for something other people enjoy to go away because you don’t like it.

Did someone tie you to a chair and force you to watch? Some sort of Clockwork Orange situation?

Thank you.

I'll second what people are saying about the Kelvinverse films. I'd love to see at least one more. We went on an emotional roller-coaster thinking there might be two...now having it be unlikely that there will be one.

I'm dead neutral on another Kelvin Movie. One way or another doesn't make a difference to me. BUT, I do hope the Picard Series addresses how CBS will deal with the Kelvin/Prime Split once and for all. I guess that would be my wish.

I don't think the Romulans will be a major focus but they were prominent in TNG and they can't just not mention them at all. They can try to avoid it for a little while but eventually the topic of what's going on with a major power has to come up. It could something as simple as referring to "New Romulus". It doesn't even need to be anything big. This would have the added bonus of helping the novels to figure out how to navigate post-2387, if the Picard Series doesn't chuck everything that happened in them.

Or they could go the other way and say nothing in the Kelvin Films has anything to do with what CBS is putting out. Period. And just ignore anything that was shown to have happened in them, including the destruction of Romulus, and continue on as if it never happened.

Either way, hopefully CBS takes a stand one way or another on the issue in the Picard Series instead of dodging it. I don't care what the stance is. Just take one.

I don't think that's an option.

They've already kept to the 2009 movie's version of events in the Star Trek Online game, and Disco showrunner was a co-writer and co-producer on that movie.

But then again, we are in a word where Terminator is ignoring everything after T2, Halloween ignores all but the original and so forth. So anything could happen.

Uhm, you could of course just not watch it...
Why would he do that when he could hope to take something away from all the people who like Discovery instead?
For me I want ST:Picard to be great and to eventually give the character a decent send off.

Mad Max Fury Road ignores everything but the original as well.

That's because Fury Road is basically a remake of The Road Warrior.

I don't agree. The plot of The Road Warrior has nothing to do with the plot of Fury Road. They're not even remotely similar, except that they both feature massive chase action scenes. Otherwise, the elements driving the plot are completely different.
