There are millions of reasons for the straight pylon on what is obviously Discoprise. Most likely reason though, is that CBS is trolling it's fans.

But I guess the chances this will actually be how she looks like in season 2 are pretty slim - the ship already appeard on screen in the finale of S1! Changing that NOW would be a big retcon, I doubt they'll do that.

Though whoever knows really. I would absolutely love this version though!

Almost every other number is copied right from the FJ tech manual, so it probably says 288.6 Meters.

And I don't think it's a lens flare, it's a light either behind the screen, or a reflection of one in front of it.
