News Discovery Season 2 Extended to 14 episodes (originally 13)

I think the most we'll see, is what we've seen already, a corridor, Spock's quarters and maybe the transporter room.

I want the bridge to be shown. If anyone loses their shit over it, that's their problem, not mine and not the show's.

The more outraged they are, or mock-outraged, the better I know Discovery is. They're asking for it because they keep coming back when they should know better. But because they don't know better or choose to keep coming back anyway, once again: that's their problem not mine.

Their reactions don't effect what I do or don't want to see. And it shouldn't effect what anyone else who's actually a fan of the show wants to see.

If you don't want to play it safe, then you definitely don't play it safe where it matters the most. You show the bridge.

Just another 12 more and we have a proper season.

There once was a time I'd agree but a few of the filler episodes in the Xindi season just dragg it down.

Netflix Marvel suffered this effect as well, imo. Seasons of all shows were too damned long. Had they cut the fat and just stuck to the facts I might not have become bored, stopped watching them. I doubt I am alone with this opinion.

Much as I love Trek, always want more, I now also better appreciate tighter storytelling with less filler.

I honestly hope we don't. Just one more reason for everyone to go berserk.

Agree, but if had my druthers I'd rather they rip off the band-aid ASAP and get it over with before the Pike series drops. ;)

It doesn't seem like the Enterprise will be seen enough to justify building a bridge.

Ship-to-ship communication with Number One who'd be in command and thus on the bridge. They can redress the Shenzhou bridge. I imagine the Shenzhou bridge on DSC will be like the Battle Bridge on TNG. They'll modify it to be whatever other Starfleet bridge they need.

Exactly. And, if they want a new bridge specifically for the Pike Series, they can just say they refitted the ship. Or have it damaged in a battle to explain it away if they think they need to.

I already have a plan in place that I thought of in advance: I'm not going to respond to anything they say about the Enterprise bridge during the first week. To do so would be madness. It has the potential to reach Early-2000s ENT Forum Insanity. Which I want nothing to do with. After they get their extreme reactions out of their system, and the edge has been taken off, then it'll be down to a more manageable level. Then I can engage them. Not before.

Unless the extra episode sets up a new Pike series! :)

I have a feeling that there will be no Pike series. Kurtzman has been pretty clear about how the CBS strategy for Trek dictates that any new series would need to be substantially different from what already exists. A Pike series, at least the one we'd want to see, would basically be another "adventures aboard a ship " show, so that probably won't fly.

I'd just get a kick out of having a series with Pike's crew after it was rejected by NBC.

A Pike series could reveal he’s an amateur chef and just be a cooking show in the future of space. He’ll show how to best prepare Andorian ice mountain beef.
