another new season 2 trailer and poster

Why? Everyone has their own opinion. Or do you have no opinion on Anson Mount's version of the character yet?

Sometimes we go on what we have.

No I haven’t formed an opinion yet other than Mount physically was a good choice for the Hunter vibe. Have any opinion you want but to say this Pike is an “asshole” after a few seconds is shortsighted and ridiculous. Also IMHO it’s stupid to form an negative or positive opinion till you’ve actually seen at least one episode. It will taint your viewing of it if you’ve already prejudged EVERYTHING.

My knowledge of the location is from the text seen beneath the transmission. Richmond, Indiana is a real world location.

If Discovery is set in 2257 or 2258, James Kirk is a lieutenant and an instructor at the Academy. One of his students is Gary Mitchell.

Kirk could have been a phaser crew member on the Farragut. We know that in the late 2250s that he served aboard this ship and was an instructor at the Academy. The question is, what is the order of the events?

I might still be pumped from the trailer, but I feel like this is my most anticipated season 2 for any series to date, dethroning Attack on Titan S2 (which took like... 4 freaking years to air!). It's this combination of hype because I wanted something else from DSC s1 but still really liked it...now it feels like I'm getting what I wanted AND it's still DSC, AND its Star Trek. I'm more excited for this than I was for S1, and that was the first series in so many years!

He also could be logging and writing up the incident with Ben Finney for leaving a switch on the atomic matter pile open when it should have been closed and almost blowing up the ship - the U.S.S. Republic.
^^^
yep Star Trek is certainly 100% consistent with a main character's backstory...oh, wait... ;)

It's so refreshing to see that after an ever-so-brief period of even the usual negative suspects saying that S2 looked promising, the DSC board is back to normal now.

Never would have predicted that.

Carry on.
Are you implying that irrational conclusion jumping based on little evidence and a whole lot of assumption and conjecture isn't new for the TBBS?

So much for section 31 being a secret organization, let's have casual chats about it in the turbo lift "oh you're in section 31 too? Let me give you my section 31 mail invite and you can join".

Poster makes it look like the Enterprise and Discovery are firing on each other. Disappointingly it's just flares.

Kurtzman said season 2 of Discovery is more grounded, but this trailer is anything but that.

Honestly I liked the 2 earlier teaser trailers better.

We already knew Pike is going to be a regular as the Captain of Discovery this season. But this seem to imply that Spock may be a regular (or semi-regular) too and be on Discovery. The anti-fanwank dudes better check their blood pressure before watching this season.

I don't like that everyone seems to know what Section 31 is. Kind of reminds of ENT where everyone seemed to know what Pon Farr was.

It looks great. Can't wait for the season to start.

Not going to wade in too far. Really excited to see this new season. Mount looks like a great Pike. This trailer hit everything I needed today. Carry on.

To be fair about Pon Farr - remember Spock's reply to Kirk was:
http://www.chakoteya.net/StarTrek/34.htm

KIRK: Stay. McCoy has given me his medical evaluation of your condition. He says you're going to die unless something is done. What? Is it something only your planet can do for you? Spock! You've been called the best first officer in the fleet. That's an enormous asset to me. If I have to lose that first officer, I want to know why.

SPOCK: It is a thing no out-worlder may know except those very few who have been involved. A Vulcan understands, but even we
do not speak of it among ourselves. It is a deeply personal thing. Can you see that, Captain, and understand?

KIRK: No, I do not understand. Explain. Consider that an order.

So yeah, Trip and Tpol had a very intimate relationship (whether fans like or didn't like that aspect is besides the point) - but given how they both felt T'Pol included Trip in the Ceremony; and as Trip and T' Pol have been on the ship for years, it stands to reason that others would find out/know about it. Spock was not your typical Vulcan, and was embarrassed and by his own admission in the episode fighting the urge for years. T'Pol may not have felt the same way about the ritual as Spock had.

But again, my point: Even in Spock's dialogue - there's no indication that absolutely no one outside of Vulcans knows about or has attended/participated in Pon Farr since Humans and Vulcans made first contact.

Finally watched it. Good trailer. Some Spock and Burnham friction. More Kelpians (so the latest Short does get followed up on)... and all I have to say is: Start the damn season already!

Just saw the new trailer today, looks great, can't wait!
there's a pretty good new trailer and poster up from CBS AA today:
