another new season 2 trailer and poster

Holy fuck, seriously? Jesus Christ.

I mean yes it's stupid and awful that Kirk keeps getting special treatment he never earns in that movie, just because he's Kirk and brand recognition needs him to be the captain. (Sorry, "destiny," because if we put a stupid name on it, it counts as the theme of our movie!) And while a further explanation of that would be nice, that is some serious Voodoo Shark material.

Damn.
Yeah. The comic ends with Pike meeting with Section 31 discussing Kirk, who the other members refer to as "Pike's Project." That storyline was dropped after STID.
I read in an interview that Pike thinks it's original Georgiou, as per the official cover story from the end of season one. And Michael isn't allowed to explain... for some reason or other.
The Mirror Universe is classified. Indeed, the only ones on Disco's crew who know that it's really Emperor Georgiou and not Captain Georgiou who commanded the mission to Qo'nos are Michael, Saru, and the transporter chief, who was told it would be treason to say anything.

Hasn't Mount already said he's not going to play Pike as he was played in The Cage - in part because he recognizes how fucking sexist Cage Pike was, and it wouldn't fly in the modern era?
He was sexiest? His xo was a female.

Hopefully we will get a nice shot of it in the first episode when the Klingons board it and fly out of the rest of the season.

We'll find out this D-7 was actually a Romulan ship the Klingons captured and copied. :shifty:

So, Pike is presumably the same guy as in The Cage since this is the Prime Universe, unaltered.

If so, he's fine with retiring from Starfleet to own and trade "animal women", since all he decided against was leaving the fleet. And now he's chatting with the Empress of a tyranical evil empire, joining an immoral, unethical branch of Starfleet to commit any crime she likes like any other crew member getting a promotion.

Guess only Kelvin Pike was a cool guy, this ones an asshole.
Jesus. Nothing like judging a performance on the maybe 45 seconds of Pike dialogue we have so far. I really love Trek, but really dislike the “fans” some days.

Why? Everyone has their own opinion. Or do you have no opinion on Anson Mount's version of the character yet?

Sometimes we go on what we have.

Kirk said the same thing.

When? I don't recall Kirk ever saying that. Kirk didn't like having a female yeoman.

KIRK: When I find the headquarters genius that assigned me a female yeoman
MCCOY: What's the matter, Jim. Don't you trust yourself?
KIRK: I've already got a female to worry about. Her name's the Enterprise.

EDIT: Ninja'd by @The Wormhole!

A Starfleet captain imagining leaving and going right into organised crime, people trafficking (which comes with working for the Syndicate), arms dealing, basically the main enemies of the Federation in it's infancy if the Rise of the Federation novels are remotely canon.

The whole backstory of the Orion Syndicate wouldn't be inserted for years - none of that was known at the time of The Cage.

In other, more skant related news, is this a disco skant?

For all we Section 31's darkest ops in DSC might be completely secret to the rest of Starfleet.

They're pretend to be a legit organization as their cover, which would explain the badges.

I originally thought it was the DSC Enterprise uniform, but I think it's actually a dress or casual wear, there's a shot of Burnham wearing a blue outfit in a shuttle afterwards.

Wow, the more I see of this season the better it looks.
Did we see human looking Klingons fighting Disco Klingons at one point?
Looks like Georgious is playing a bigger role than I had expected. I had figured she was just pop up briefly and then disappear again, but this makes it look like she's a pretty major player in the story. Did we know that Voqler joined S31 with her, I don't remember hearing about that before.
Hmm, looks like someone captured a Kelpien (not sure I spelled that right). I wonder if that is what eventually leads us back to Kaminar?
I love that this season seems to be focused on investigating a new threat, rather than just a war.

looks like some kind of vulcan garb:

I like the trailer, although it's not as cool as the first or epic as the second. Not crazy about another galaxy-wide threat (although perhaps it's just the angels showing Spock his worst fear or somesuch). Was glad to see some bald Klingons along with the new hairy ones. Section 31 is being treated much as it was in Into Darkness as the covert ops wing of Starfleet, which is expected since Kurtzman co-wrote and co-produced the former. The VFX are a big step up from S1.

Loving the shot of Spock in a padded cell.
