Great show and I've enjoyed it from the beginning. But I am glad that the beings on the "other side" are making a comeback. I agree with the cries of "it got too normal" but like all good stories I was willing to wait it out and see where it was going.

Good things about being on Earth:
    BOOP! Janet
All of the sponsorship signs while they were in Florida, hilarious
    Chidi's girlfriend
    Bald Eleanor
Michael's wonder at all of the normal things on Earth

I really want the end of the series and the four actually make it to the Good Place, the first thing they see is Lil' Sebastian and then all sing 5000 candles in the wind.

Maybe they can get Pratt as a guest star, even though he's a super star now in Hollywood.

Maybe The Good Place is the friends we made along the way. ;)

Ah. I don't remember that scene, but it's how they introduce The Good Place Podcast every week, so that's where I got it from.

The bar brawl was fantastic and easily the best part of the episode. Janet kicking butt was so great. Every episode should feature Janet kicking butt. :)

Some additional thoughts on the episode:

We get to see the famous Doug who has his portrait in Michael's office! I imagine that Doug was meant to be a funny caricature of the "off the grid" folks. But more importantly, his lifestyle illustrated an important flaw in the point system. Michael now realizes that the point system is more flawed than he realized. It is not just that people cannot redeem themselves but that the way the points are earned is deeply flawed. As Michael pointed out, the point system takes utilitarianism to an absurd extreme. It simply rewards actions deemed "good" with no regard to other effects. Doug was clearly miserable and feels forced to do things he secretly hates but he is still earning "good" points because he is doing all the right things. Heck, Doug may not have even been a good person deep down but he is gaming the system by doing all the "good" things that earn points. Clearly, we are heading towards Michael changing the point system. It seems to be a major plot arc of the show. It will be interesting to see what Michael comes up with as a replacement for the old point system. Will he simply change how the points are earned or come up with a completely new system for judging people?

The philosophical aspects of the show continue to be one of its biggest strengths. It is fascinating to think about all the implications of the issues that the show raises.

I’ve been theorizing this season will end with the four having a choice between going to the Good Place but it means dropping the fight to change the rules, and it will set up season 4 being about the fight to change the rules.

It was nice to get some more supernatural stuff with the demons showing up.
Loved the fight in the bar, Janet kicking the demons' asses was awesome.
Micheal McKean as Doug was great.
I'm glad Eleanor told Chidi how she feels and about what Micheal showed.
What is the deal with Lil' Sebastian? I've seen other references to him before, but I've never seen Parks and Rec so I'm not familiar with him.

Well the weird is definitely back in The Good Place. I didn't know what to think of the brawl but then I listened to this week's podcast and understanding what they were going for, I appreciated it a lot more. This season sure took a turn to the twisted though. I guess that's what I wanted but it's so sudden. As for Doug Forsett, finding out what he was like was very interesting. It kind of follows the advice of don't meet your heroes though. I agree with @JirinPanthosa, it looks like season 4 might be fighting the good place system.

This show is officially back to being insane. Well Done Darcy Cardon on this performance. The Good Place is really ran down these days. I'm really interested to see more of it in January.

Yeah, great episode. This show is at its best when it gets super metaphysical. And ye, Darcy did a great job impersonating the other characters.

So let's speculate: what does the real Good Place look like? I imagine it will look similar to Michael's neighborhood since he did design it to pretend to the Good Place. Plus, the producers can reuse a lot of sets. But the real Good Place won't torture people. Or will the show give us something different? Is it possible that the Bad Place has corrupted the Good Place too and it is falling apart?

The show is very interesting--and it's addressing an issue I have had since the pilot--it doesn't make sense that it should be so hard to get to the Good Place. I believe that in general, most people are good, and the set up for the show really countered that. Good people should not be in hell.

So the fact that no one got into the good place in over 500 years really doubles down on that premise and now we have our characters saying, "that's wrong." You would think all the celestial beings would have noticed, but I guess they will deal with that too. And is there an ultimate boss? A CEO, aka God?

I look forward to the next episode.

I get the impression that the celestial beings are trapped in their own complacency. They've been doing the same thing for such a long time that it just because so routine. They can't think outside the box. That's why a character like Michael is so important. He is the only one able to take action.

That might be a bit risky to address on the show. It is sure to offend a lot of people no matter what they do.

I think it depends on how they do it. They clearly are not embracing the old testament, but there is also a heaven, a hell, and a system of judgement. I think a lot of religions have that, and it's very generic. A lot of religions are also monotheistic, so a CEO without an endorsement, would make sense.

It's been awhile since I studied it, but one of the only religions I can think of without a concept of heaven and hell would be Hinduism, where you just keep getting reincarnated instantly, and the next life will be better or worse depending on how you lived your previous life. Crude interpretation I am sure, but it's been a long time. That's one of the few religions that would have issues with the concept of heaven and hell.

That said though, it's just a goofy comedy, and if people get offended by that, so be it. They should be able to entertain the masses that are good with it.

If they do have a Good Place CEO or 'God', wouldn't it be the absolute shits if they cast Morgan Freeman? :D

Only if he wears a Yankee hat.

Just had a new thought about the Good Place. I don't know if anyone else ever mentioned this, but Chidi sure looks a lot like Roger Thomas from What's Happening.

Wow, this was a great episode. It was nice to really get back to the full on afterlife craziness.
D'Arcy Cardon was awesome here, she really did a great job capturing the way they spoke and even all their little mannerisms.
The Neutral Zone was fun, it was interesting getting a detailed look at how the points work. I knew the system was flawed, but I did not expect the reveal that no one had made it to The Good Place in 500 years.
I can't wait to see what the real Good Place is like.
