So the ship has been left for a 1000 years and no one has found it?
It was okay but I want to hear more about the state of the universe in the 33rd century. Nothing has got that far yet in the lore.
I wish they would stop with the holographic stuff. They didn’t have that tech back then.
6/10

"Space is big. Really big. You just won't believe how vastly, hugely, mind-bogglingly big it is. I mean, you may think it's a long way down the road to the chemist, but that's just peanuts to space." - Douglas Adams

How do you know what tech that they have "back then?" We may be on the cusp of having it now.

IOf course the bigger question is the Federation's fate. Why did it fall? What events caused it? Would the DSC crew or someone from the new Picard series find out and try to prevent it by altering the timeline?

Or, if the Federation hasn't fallen, why is Discovery out there alone with no crew?

(I guess Zora prevented Craft from actually calling for help...unless her communications systems broke down.)

Is nearly having the technology now is irrelevant. Our history doesn’t correspond with Star Trek’s. If so we would be in a lot of trouble.
We're in a lot of trouble, anyway.
I get it. They had jellybean lights and static backlight displays on TOS. That show aired when Johnson was president. If you want them to restrict themselves to that and paper printouts, why bother watching anything new an star trek? You're never going to be satisfied.

Hence why they should be jumping ahead. Stop with the prequels.
If this was 25th or later, no one would have cared.
So does that mean we know the fate of Discovery?

We know at some point discovery is hidden away ... she could possibly be retrieved by her original crew and brought back in time (with sentient computer) or a new Crew could take her over long in the future (and rebuild the federation ... aka andromeda).

The sentient computer thing adds a little more drama to ships not being so disposable (not as easy as build a Discovery B)

Regardless you had your answer in the show about the holo projections. She said herself she'd been evolving for the last 1000 years. But of course, it was really understood all the whingers that said star trek should move ahead of TOS era would just find something else to moan about if the show ever did that. The show did indeed move ahead and well.. voila.

The only people who care are fandamentalists, and as has been shown repeatedly, nothing short of short of plywood walls, polyester turtlenecks and backlit panels is going to ease their longing to enjoy a past that the original creaters were glad to leave behind decades ago.

I think the Picard era is the next best place to go. You do a show 1000 years forward that just forces more prequels. Forward a generation at a time is best.

I wish that was the time period she was in during this short as it could have tied the two shows together. Heck Picard and his archeologist team could have been looking for discovery.

“In the federations darkest hours. Picard is sent with team to find the federation secret weapon Hidden away for decades to protect its advanced spore drive. Picard must find the discovery in an attempt to save the federation from its newest threat and lead discovery to find her lost love.

I’m sure they could have done something set in the 23rd century and make it look futuristic without messing everything up. Enterprise did a good job with that with the 22nd century.
The complaining and fury over Enterprise looking more futuristic than TOS, at the time, makes the complaints about DSC look like a mild murmur. I was never sure what they wanted changed on ENT.. maybe brass knobs and analog dials with big steampunk gauges.

Actually andromeda would have been terrific trek. Their first season had a lot of promise. They just didn’t have the long term support or direction to make it happen properly.

I piixard show with federation severely weakened and in danger ... with earth under enemy control could have a lot of potential.

Another thing... sorry keep posting random thoughts. She said she was ordered to to remain put. You don’t order ships to do anything. Does that mean the ship was already self aware when she was parked ?? Hmmm

Ok I think I need to move my rating from 7 to 10. This may not be some one off
