This episode gets bonus points just for Betty Boop! And that's just the cherry on top.

And Funny Face was a Paramount movie, too.
Hoping Astaire's estate people don't mind.

Really great stuff this week! I enjoyed it immensely. Loving the shots of discovery’s exterior in both of these shorts so far.

I didn’t need the ship to be dirtier, I didn’t need an alternate universe explanation of how the ship got there 1000years later, I didn’t need an explanation of why the crew left Discovery or who the AI was, I just enjoyed it as a really nice Trek short.

Can’t wait to hear why I’m a total goon for feeling this way about it from all the youtubers tomorrow! :nyah:

That was the most boring episode of Star Trek I think I've ever seen. I honestly don't know why that was Star Trek.

For one, I deleted the post because it sounded really mean and I apologize. Two, it seemed like it to me. I accept many types of trek. This one felt disconnected and I really had a hard time getting into it.

I wonder if "Calypso" is letting us know where the season will end up?

I doubt it, unless it’s the series finale

I wonder if they’ll end the series with them leaving discovery where ever that is to hide it. If they know the ending is coming that is

Again that was great. I totally expected the evil/ominous AI story as that’s all we usually get. But this is a Federation AI that loves people and obviously loved Craft. So if you love someone...

If I remember my Greek mythology,
Zeus had to intervene to force Calypso to set Odysseus free.

What kind of mission would strip a starship of every crew member...

No Federation 1000 years in the future and human colonies fighting decade-long wars against each other. Fascinating.

Did anyone else get chills when Craft touched the chair and said something about the captain being dead for 1000 years?

We as viewers don’t know who the captain will be the rest of the series (highly doubt it would be pike imo) so it was a great moment where we and Craft were kinda wondering the same thing

Wall*E was the first thing I thought of, especially during the dance routine.

I think I'm going to watch this again when I'm in a better frame of mind. It's getting universally praised and maybe I missed something. I guess considering the only connection to the actual show we got was the Ship, I did feel disconnected from it. This could have taken place anywhere and anytime, and considering the year wait we have for Discovery to come back, to have this story with two new (and probably their only appearance) characters left me emotionally cold. At least with Runaway, we got to see Tilly, and the next one looks like it will get into Suru's backstory. I was hoping this one would give us something related to the actual series and it really didn't. On that basis I was disappointed.

I have a lot of questions. I need to rewatch with a pause button. I can't help but think parts of this must tie into season 2. The story was very touching. I don't even care if the questions don't get answered.

    I loved this....

Anybody who compaints about you can't tell a good story in 15 minutes this episodes shows they are wrong. At 15 minutes it did not feel rushed and still told a great story. This was great.

I liked it better than Runaway. But it does leave some big questions.

It does and since this writer is also doing the picard series I still expect a link. I wouldn't be shocked to see craft a crewmember on Picard's ship leading to how does he wind up here.

I'm starting to think Pike might return to the Enterprise before the very end of the season. And thus the Enterprise might have a larger role out of plot necessity because they'll need two ships for some reason.

I don't know what "Calypso" set up, but it set up something.

I really enjoyed this one, but at some point I now want to see why the Discovery is abandoned.
