If you could write a character for DS9, who would it be?

A Tholian, they don't live in the same physical conditions as the people on DS9, so all interactions would be through monitors or holograms. I think it could be interesting to have a character like that.

I kinda wish they'd held onto Melora Pazlar, though made her a Counsellor--not as "touchy-feely" as Troi, opting for a more tough love form of therapy.

I was thinking of one like Goran'agar. I know an unaddicted one was in the novels but I only read a few of the relaunch books.

How about a Medusan? It would have been interesting to see a DS9 take on a one time TOS alien, especially one that is so peculiar. Plus I would have liked to know how first contact was established between Medusans and... anyone else.

Not a regular character, but a recurring group: the captain and crew of a very small Starfleet research vessel (say, crew of 20 or so) that operates out of DS9 - but not back by the end of most episodes like the Defiant. Instead, they only show up once or twice a season for leave, resupply, etc. And maybe we would have gotten a focus episode here and there about what they were doing where they were out and about. It and they would have been around from the start of the series - and possibly, the destruction of the ship and death of some of the crew could have been used as an emotional hammer on the viewer, at some point during the Dominion War.

She would have made a therapist a lot like Kira. "You're dreampt about WHAT? You're crazy. Now, get out of my office! Next patient!"

The Deltans are underused, both male and female Deltans. We haven't seen many of them since Ilia. So a Deltan aboard DS9 would be great. It would add to a sexy atmosphere. Quark would try to hire one of them as Dabo girl. :D

Another idea I had. A human genetic augment working for Quark. Someone who says "Oh, I can't have any good jobs, can I? Well, the Ferengi are hiring, let's see if it bothers them."

I would have created a human male dabo boy who works at Quark. He is bi-sexual who has a thing for Quark and Leeta so Rom doesn't much like him. Quark doesn't feel the same in that way, but he also helps out with many of Quarks scheme's so he is also a con-artist as well.. I like the idea that for all of Quark's vice's he isn't a homophobe. Maybe because his and Rom's dad was gay and one of the reason he wasn't successful in business is because of homophobia.
