Post Your Dreams Thread

I dreamed that I dropped off a bunch of stuff at an antique mall in a semi-rural area. However, the particular vendor I was looking for wasn't there, as apparently he was in a different town at the moment. The manager confirmed this when I asked about the vendor's whereabouts.

Thankfully, the antique mall was suddenly also a train, which happened to be going in the general direction of that town. Since it was a good distance away and I thought it wasn't on the train route, I anticipated eventually having to get off of the train and find another way to get there. But suddenly we were approaching that town, and I panicked because I had left all my stuff in another part of the store/train, so I started to make a mad dash to go find it. Then the alarm clock went off.

A very mixed up dream last night, as I try to record the details. It mixed up elements from work, childhood, uni, and my own family. It seemed to begin in my university room in the halls (though it was much larger) with a girl I don’t recognise. She had hair so fiery red it could keep you warm all winter, and she held a clipboard full of tattered notes; she asked if I wanted a cigar ordering for the end of the project. I said yes, though I didn’t normally smoke, but the full ashtray on my desk said otherwise.

Next thing, I’m in the car with my wife and on my way to work; the wind is getting up. By the time we get to the bridge crossing the river, the gales are blowing cars across the road, and the barrier has been torn from the sides. We just make it across.
When I get to work I find I am late for a school trip, as a pupil, and we all get on a coach. The coach takes us across the same windy bridge. The coach is forced off the road and we have to cross the bridge on foot, against the wind and debris. One of the children is one I remember from school, aged about 6, and I have to carry him some of the way.
Eventually, we make it across, and collect ourselves in the ramparts of a castle, where i dry myself down from the rain and borrow a cigarette (cadging a fag was the old term). It was a menthol cigarette, I didn’t enjoy it, and I felt self conscious about smoking in public.

Then the alarm went off.

Dreamed that I’d just realised that we didn’t need the old electric oven that was taking up space in the living room. Don’t know why I’d never realised it before, we have an integrated oven and hob in the kitchen, and the old one split the sofa in two, so i decided to remove it.

When I took it outside, two trains passed on the line by the house, which proved to me that it was a dream, because the line is singled. No one would believe me however, and on close inspection, there were two tracks. I knew that this was wrong, but everything else was natural.

So I decided to follow the track and found they led by to my childhood, and once again, I was a young ragamuffin on an adventure in the lands around my village. Evading a farmer, who’s paddock we’d invaded, fell in the sheep dip, jumped over the dyke. The dream ended, thankfully, when we got in to difficulty at the weir, the water was deeper than it looked, and there was someone beneath the surface grabbing for legs.

It’s given me an idea for a short story.

Dreamed I was reliving my schooldays in the eighties, and today was my first day again. Except that this time I had my car and was also driving friends to school. Except, the car wasn’t ready for passengers, and I spent the whole dream trying to find space for my passengers, and the child seats, and all of the crap that is usually in the boot. Time ticked on, and the school kept ringing to see where we were. But we were always stopped by the side of the road, trying different ways to fit everything in.

I blame work,

Sometimes I wonder if some of my dreams aren't just peeks into possible alternate outcomes of my life.

To wit, last night I dreamed that I discovered that my teenage daughter was gay. By walking into her room to tell her and her best friend that dinner (my wife's lasagna) was ready, and they were en flagrante. At which point I turned around, walked back out to my living room, sat down next to my wife, and said "Welp, Jenny's gay. I expect they'll be out in a few."

Things in this dream I don't have: a second bedroom, a kid, a wife who can cook lasagna, a video game console (well, that's what they were supposed to be doing!)

I had a back to university dream, and I was settling in to my room in a large shared Victorian terraced house. The room was barely big enough for a desk and a narrow bed, and was also limited by a set of stairs running a long the length. And it was accessed through an other student’s tiny room.

I woke from this dream in to another, where someone at the door wanted to collect a parcel.

I had a dream that it was raining, and I was living outdoors with all of my stuff. I was annoyed that it was all getting wet, but all I could do was cover my head beneath the duvet and wait for it to stop. I’ve had this dream before.

I had a dream that I was driving on a highway in the heavy rain and the road just started going up and up until I couldn't see very far in front of me. I looked back behind me and I couldn't believe how steep this road was and I was afraid I was going to start sliding backwards. I woke up and my heart was really pounding.

I've had some pretty weird dreams lately, some homoerotic stuff involving an acquaintance, which I'd rather not mention. :D

The other night, I dreamt I was back in the old country where I grew up. I visited a rural town somewhere in the Philippines, but to me it felt like I was in Mexico. The people spoke Spanish, there were plenty of taquerias, and I was looking for a specific Mexican restaurant because, in my dream, I had been to this place many times before. The managers or owners of the establishment were a middle aged couple. They seated me at a concrete table; it was outdoor dining. No sooner did they deliver my meal than the neighborhood kids started to gather around and ask for food, and I felt sorry for them. I woke up shortly thereafter.

Since I've recently been getting more of a normal person's amount of sleep, I've actually started dreaming. I'd gotten so used to not dreaming, or at least not seeming to dream? Some of them have been the really vivid, epic-like dreams as described in this thread, which I never really understood before.

It's... weird.

Last night I dreamed that I was an hour & a half late for work, woke up and found that I really was an hour & half late for work because my alarm wasn't set properly. Then I woke up and realized it was a dream...

...and then I actually woke up for real. Sheesh.

Last night I dreamed I was back in my 20's, doing a porn photoshoot with my girlfriend (who in the dream was no one I know in real life or recognize from any source). Except I was mainly a prop, the girlfriend was the center of attention.

Also her parents were there watching and enthusiastically supporting her artistic choices.

I dreamed that one of my best friends died tragically, and I immediately started dating his wife while she was still in mourning. We had to keep it on the down low so nobody would suspect there had been foul play.

So... when all was said and done, did you wake up on time in real life, or were you significantly late?
