It's only 24.947% different with straight pylons. The straight pylons look SO much better. The ship is more attractive in those concept images.
More concept art, at one point in the concept process there were torpedo tubes on the rear of the saucer.

i always thought they should've just used the old rectangular windows for disco/shenzhou right from the get go.I'm not a fan of putting the DIS/Shenzhou tooth-windows on the good old E...The old rectangular ones would have looked much better - but then they won't be able to re-use the same sets for the E.
Skipping through the Trekyards video, it seems John Eaves designed this Enterprise with the idea that if you removed all the new parts, you got the TOS version of the ship. So despite the show being a visual reboot, we've got designers trying to make things that fit in-universe with the classic show... nobody involved in the making of this show seemed to know what they were doing or why.

That's not really all that far fetched, since we know 'Non-Canonically' the Bridge Module was meant to be such.I can see that with the pylons and the deflector on his original concept design, but I'm not sure how that would work with the Impulse Deck, unless he also meant swapping out entire parts.
I personally think that interchangeable parts makes a lot of sense, especially since the Enterprise was originally designed to be very smooth looking due to repairs being done via interior access. Swappable parts would certainly make sense, especially from a multi-mission platform as the Constitution was used. That's not really all that far fetched, since we know 'Non-Canonically' the Bridge Module was meant to be such.
No reason other parts of the ship couldn't be swapped out.
There are more than enough hull lines all over the ship, which could indicate that swapping parts was a 'NORM' for this particular class of starship.
It could also help explain why we've seen so many different versions of the ENTERPRISE, it was designed and built in 'sections' to make repair less complicated and time consuming.
That could also be why it only took 18 months to "refit' her for The Motion Picture.

If they're not integral to the frame of the ship, there's no reason that interiors don't get frequently rearranged depending on the mission needs of a ship. Now see, that would be a great in-universe explanation for why the Discoprise looks like it does, especially if you were to remove “The Cage” from the visual continuity. Then again it would likely conflict with the vastly different interiors we are sure to see.
