I had a really good one a couple of nights ago.

There was a cross-over of superheros vs. the Star Wars Empire.

A lot of different good-guy spaceships linked up--and a war was fought on a planet. The rebels were accking one line of stormtroopers from one entrance, the superheros fliying threw a second bunch towards an entrance much faster.

    No Palpatine though.

The last line I heard was from a traitor in the ranks.

"Greetings Lord Darkseid...and how would you like to kill us today?"

OK I had a strange dream.

I was onboard a spacecraft with a female companion and we were both in some kind of induced sleep but were woken early by an alarm. The ship had lost contact with Earth. It was some kind of signal that happens every 90 minutes to make sure we are in contact and on course but the automatic system lost the signal.

Anyway I woke up after her and we seemed lost in space but were still in the solar system. My companion was called Emma. Emma is a good name because most of the people I have known called Emma have been nice. Anyway yeah we were what seemed hopelessly lost and I was getting a little distressed. She was trying to soothe and calm me.

I had this crazy idea that we look for any space probes that were from Earth and we found one and locked onto it and headed over to it. We found it was transmitting back to Earth so we figured out the direction of that signal with maths...Yay, anyway we figured that out and then turned our more powerful equipment on the ship in that direction and could pick up faint radio and HF signals from that direction. It sounded like music and TV with lots of static.

We had nothing to lose so we turned into that direction and used a little bit of engine power to push us in that direction. The signals got louder as we traveled and we soon found out it was Earth. So we gunned the engines to full power. Within the next day or two we were in orbit and back home. But then on closer examination we found that while there were signals there seemed to be no life and via telescope we could see that on the ground everything looked dead, cars stopped on the road and people lying on the ground... It seemed to be that way everywhere and as we listened to the radio stuff we found an automated emergency transmission on our spacecraft's communication frequency telling us that some kind of outbreak has happened and that we should extend our sleep and head for the closest Sol type star system in our database. That was put there as our original mission to see if the planets there could support human life..... Earth was dead and the dream ended with us taking off our hibernation suits and hugging..... I then woke up.

Scared the life out of me.

I for one remember most dreams I have, unless I'm woken up suddenly I can tell you my dreams. And as of a week or so back, I have been able to control what happens in my dreams, but only if I take a nap during the day. The longer I sleep the less remembrance and control I have, though I always know when I am dreaming.

One dream I remember having is out in our backyard is a field we loan to a local farmer who uses it for hay. But in this particular dream a bean stock sprouted out of the ground and I was going to go climb it, woke up before I could but the odd thing about the beanstalk which was giant, much like in jack and the beanstalk was that it was made of bone.

Another dream had me in a bullet train which were on tracks in the middle of the ocean and the train was swallowed by the waves, next thing I remember is being caught in the train with water pouring out of my mouth and if I closed my mouth it would just fill with water so I had to keep it open. I looked out one of the many windows and saw other people on a relatively calm sea with a few waves here and there, and my thought was that they had all died in what they were on/in, as have I in the train car. I woke up later.

Those are just two rather random dreams I've had, I have plenty more if anyone's interested in hearing.

NECROPOST! But it’s the most recent thread I could find on dreams.

Last night, under the wine, I had two dreams.

One was a nightmare about being trapped crawling in a narrow passage deep underground in a cave when the tunnel shifts, and my caving partner goes to get help but falls and dies, and then my light goes out, and then I feel water dripping onto my face. (I don’t cave at all, so...?)

But the interesting one seems like the start of what could be a film or book, and I was just a spectator.

Set in a school. Girl #1 is a teenaged lesbian (not out yet) meets and falls for Girl #2, who returns her affections. Complication: Girl #2 is actually a person who shifts back and forth between physical genders on a regular basis, and “passes” by looking very androgynous most of the time, and just happens to be on the cusp of her next transformation into ‘him.’

Lack of hilarity probably ensues, but I woke up at that point and I couldn’t even begin to continue the story because i’m not remotely qualified to discuss those kinds of gender issues.

Early this morning I dreamt that I was some kind of naval internal affairs investigator, or something like that. I was being briefed by my superiors (played by Denzel Washington and Carrie-Anne Moss) on an upcoming mission. I was to go investigate some weird goings-on at a naval housing complex near a base in a remote coastal area. Strangely, the briefing did not go into any detail whatsoever. But I got in the car and got onto the highway, inadvertently going in the opposite direction from my destination.

I was (unsafely) looking at papers and my smartphone while driving, and I realized that I was going the wrong way, but my destination was only about an hour and a half away, and the scenery was beautiful. So I was really anticipating going there and seeing the amazing environment, and I had the feeling that this would be a really thrilling and interesting mystery adventure. So I got ready to take the next exit from the freeway and head in the correct direction.

Then the alarm clock went off.

^ I hate it when that happens.

For some reason I haven't remembered any of my dreams for the last couple of months. They're usually somewhat entertaining.

I saw my mysterious redhead again in my dreams again, this time we were talking and sitting on a paddleboat. That's a small boat with two seats and you pedal to make it go forwards and use a handle to steer. That was rather an odd one but yes it was her again. Not sure what it all means but then it faded and I was alone again but this time running from killer drones in a big city area.

I believe I had two or more dreams last night that got lumped into one. One was about a catastrophic storm on a global scale that I actually nicknamed it "The Apocalypse." There were dark clouds and huge tornadoes that reminded me of Jupiter's hostile atmosphere. The phenomenon came about suddenly without any warning, and there were no reports of people panicking or preparing for the disaster. I heard news reports that the storm had reached the East Coast and was moving westward.

The second dream was about me and my sister staying at a mansion (presumably in another country) that the storm had previously hit. The dream had a really Gothic feel. Peter Dinklage was there, and he would kill anyone who entered a room, and zombies and other creatures would attack. It turned out to be some kind of holographic recreation to test someone's character.

You didn't watch the very average movie "Geostorm" by any chance?

I did several months ago. The dream was a mixture of horror and disaster films.

I dreamed I was dreaming and I couldn't wake up. And the old man hermit Jimmy Page from The Song Remains the Same was standing in the corner.

Typical that this thread should appear after my run of guaranteed nightly weirdness had settled down. Gone are the dreams where I learn that my real dad is hitler, and go about gaining his affection. Or the one where I got stuck in 1950s Indonesia and settle down with a local girl who didn’t speak English.

This morning though, I dreamed I was at work being accused of starting a gay rumour. No one would tell me what the rumour was, but that problem was superseded by a Trackmaster Thomas over heating and bursting in to flame. Then work became home, always my parental home, and folk were gathering in the garden for a hike. Many of the them had brought dogs with sloppy faces and muddy paws, and three of them tried to shag my leg, so I retreated to the front, where the women had gathered around the garden furniture to drink Prosecco. One of them was sat on a sun lounger having issues with her undercrackers, and flashed herself every time she adjusted her knickers. I tried not to look, a bit. But then there was a sudden loud aircraft noise from above the low cloud, it was deafening, and eventually broke the clouds to reveal the big cat spaceship thing from Voltron, and someone shouted out, ‘it’s the thundercats’.

    Then I woke up.

I dreamt this morning, (cat had woken me and hubby put a pillow over my head to stop her hitting me - that is always his excuse for putting a pillow over my head), but in my dream we were in a second-hand shop and there was a drop leaf table like one we already have but it was ornate and marble. There was a lady trying to talk it up and she had a handwritten history of it.

    Honestly? Boring dream.

I had a dull dream too.

I was writing a ghost story, in the dream, based on a recurring dream I have about the railway next to the house. But I couldn’t focus on the words on the screen, so I went outside to explore the track for new ideas for the story, but I was paranoid I’d be caught trespassing, so ended up in a boggy field, trying not to get stuck. At that point I realised the ghost story didn’t actually work so I gave up and returned to the house.

Last night I dreamed I was snorkelling in Blackpool, a seaside tourist town in northwest England, it wasn’t a realistic dream, it wasn’t raining sideways for a start, it was stylised idealistic Blackpool. Instead of the turbid brown water of the Irish sea, it was the crystal clear blue of the Caribbean shallows. And instead of the steep storm beach, inspiration for many childhood nightmares, the shore was a straight drop, like a swimming pool. Beneath the surface, the sea was crowded with other swimmers, pleasure craft and clear bottom submarines.

I followed the coast for a little while, until I got hungry, and found a guy in a white lab coat smoking a pig. I was offered a piece of its head. I accepted the meat and got in to a conversation about the view.

Much of the other details evade me now.

Dreamed that I woke up on the sofa with a glass of wine in my hand. That might have happened, it usually does, but the wife was on the phone having a long conversation with my dead paternal grandmother about family history and how sad it was that they were no longer around.

Also dreamed that I was at one of those big divisional team events where an overzealous Director drums up team spirit by getting us all drunk. Quite liked that.

    Details are patchy today.
