Spoilers Classic Race All But Confirmed

Is he a good captain or a sociopath? The answer to that question is a definitive "yes".
Or a character in episodic television.

If you want to critique a show by all means do so, but there is a way of doing it that is constructive and leads to discussion and perhaps people seeing your point of view.

Agreed. For example, a recent poster had to drop in and just say the content was crap. That was the big message. And, it has been repeated many times (in case we missed it the first 100 times). That almost seems to be the extent of their ability to articulate their thoughts.

Its fine to feel that way. Having a spectrum of opinions about a show is natural. However, that type of comment is not conducive to discussion nor even an adequate way to convey the reason behind an opinion.

The only difference is, I feel an urgency to watch Discovery again as soon as S2 starts. With The Orville, I'll almost definitely watch S2 of it "whenever".

I like both. Prefer Discover over the Orville but both are enjoyable in their own way. However, IMO, both pale in comparison to The Expanse. That's currently the best, smartest SF show by a mile!

Which shows how stupid Starfleet is not issuing body army..even Batman wears the right outfits
Or sending people to alien worlds wearing space suits, which they have, just in case. I mean, what if there's some allergin that no one noticed in a scan that will turn your sinuses inside out and kill you in seconds.

"Is there ever air out there!? you don't know!"

If you think too deeply how Starfleet operates, its amazing they win any wars lol

five year mission. red shirt. they knew what they were getting into.

It's also good leadership. Kirk can't afford to stop and mourn in most of these situations. He's responsible for 400+ other lives, and stakes that are often higher. Kirk does what any good leader must do, he continues to move forward and make decisions/take actions, and then he processes later.

We've seen examples of this throughout TOS and the TOS films. It's actually quite realistic...

And doing some loose mental math in my head, they'd have the least intelligent, most easily controllable population of inbreeds within two centuries.

I'm not sure what mental math you're doing, but you can't start a sustainable population from two individuals. The Talosian's plan was doomed to failure. They should've aimed for the entire Enterprise, and even then that might not be enough genetic diversity.

It would be so much better if people didn't feel the need to stick to a campaign. I have no way to prove this but I bet some people like Discovery more than they let on, or don't hate it as much as they let on, but they don't want to destroy their image.

Others probably really don't care about the show at all but they love the reactions. They post one thing and they know everyone will be all over it. It has to be interesting for someone to post something any time and know exactly what everyone else is going to say. When you can do that, it means you can control the exact flow of discussion whenever you want, and everyone will fall into their respective positions, practically on cue.

It's definitely what you write when it comes to Internet postings. All you've got on the Internet is, at most, some sort of loose association with your user name. Some people want to retain that image at all costs whereas, in real life conversations, that is less of a concern and there is a lower willingness to look like a JA in person.

Although, there's at least one poster who is bitter about being excluded from the latest production who is undoubtedly truly that bitter! C'est la vie!
