Looks like we will have a fully bearded Lieutenant Spock on Discovery

They wrote a book about it.

I'm actually really surprised some fool didn't use this book to launch a scientology-like trek religion.

Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse...

It's like they're trolling Trek purists.

Why don't they give him a nose-ring, ear gauges, and an IDIC neck-tattoo while they're at it?

I think you may be overreacting to the beard. He's been on leave, likely someplace where the basics we take for granted aren't available. So he ends up with a beard and longish hair. As far as Discovery hiccups go, this isn't even a blip on the radar.

Sarek took on a new kid (Michael) because his "real" kid (Sybok) is a dud.

Ironically, 6 weeks later he knocks up an Earth Woman.

Note...

Vulcan's complete their education quickly, as preteens, and then have to work side by side with with abusive humans in their 20s to 60s, as equals.

Seeming to be older, by wearing a beard, might be a way to calm the Humans from being tetchy, surrounded by children three times as smart as they are.

Well Burnham liked Tyler and he was said to have a hipster beard as well. A sign that Burnham has a type and we will see that "Flowers in the Attic" love affair we have all wanted to see, soon as the naughty thoughts popped into our heads. TIme for everyone to start working on your incest puns!:)

Tyler had scruff. I don't think any self respecting hipster would sport Tyler or Spock's mangy facial hair.

Do they? I don't recall any episode showing this.

I think their was a Vulcan kid in Alexander's class on the Enterprise?

Well how quickly does a Vulcan mature, and how long is their early education/secondary education?

Spock relearnt everything between movies 3 and 4, and Uhura relearnt everything in less than one episode after Nomad zapped her. A month into the episode Riddles where Tuvok lost his memory, all he'd learnt how to do was bake.

Vulcan secondary school may be as long or longer than human school because they learn about more subjects, more intensely, but they could obviously absorb a human syllabus in half the time a human usually does... So why did Michel get top of her class on Vulcan if humans are so dumb?

In a New frontier Novel by Peter David, he said that Vulcan babies are slow to develop because they are an incredibly long lived race and their higher functions need longer to perculate, which should mean a longer gestation period, as well as a much longer infancy.

Which would level things out, if Vulcan children can't walk until they are 5, and are not ready for school until they are 10, so humans get a 5 year head start, but they still get churned out of their universities at about the same time.

This series is such a joke!! Spock with a beard!! LOL They just keep pulling shit out of their asses for this series.

There were 6 actors who played Spock in Search for Spock.

The youngest of which would be 44 now, if he hadn't died in 2011.
