Not sure how...?It’s a shame Rebels exists. It ruins the tease Solo expertly created.

Well we know the fate of the chap. Without that we could have assumed he lived all the way through the original trilogy. Not sure how...?![]()
I know the fate of lots of characters in fiction. It isn't the destination but the journey and the characters that make it worthwhile. Otherwise, Titanic would have been a total flop, and we wouldn't have a billion and one Romeo and Juliet remakes. And prequels would be a completely nothing genre.Well we know the fate of the chap. Without that we could have assumed he lived all the way through the original trilogy.
Even though we know where the character's story ends, I'm still very interested to see how he goes from where is in Solo to where he is in Rebels. I'm a lot more interested now than I would have been if we hadn't gotten one of those appearances.Well we know the fate of the chap. Same here. The fact that we know the end doesn't take away from the character's journey or his struggle to come back to significance on the galactic stage. I mean, he has a whole criminal organization at his finger tips. Imagine him using it as a tool to harvest Sith artifacts ahead of Palpatine.Even though we know where the character's story ends, I'm still very interested to see how he goes from where is in Solo to where he is in Rebels. I thought he would show up with Thrawnwe'd still be fairly certain that at some point, he'd be taken out of the picture prior to the OT, no?
Indeed. It also confounds me when people say things like "there's no drama if I know the characters survive." After all, in the majority of television the main characters are almost never killed without advanced notice. Even shows that do make a habit of killing their regulars will only do so in certain episodes (typically premiere, finales, and midseason stories). And in some cases, certain characters getting killed off will generate advanced buzz, like with Rick leaving Walking Dead next season. Doesn't destroy the drama one bit.I've never understood why some people think that knowing a character's fate suddenly ruins every future stories before whatever it is happens to them. It can still be interesting to see how the character ended up at that point, and even if the story doesn't directly tie into that I can still enjoy it even though I know how the character will eventually end up. Even if you know the character won't die, there's still plenty of interesting things you can do with them, and other ways to build up excitement.
It hurt at least one user here, I don't remember who.P.S. to my remarks above: Us knowing Han Solo's fate didn't hurt Solo.
Sure, I remember that, too, though I'm also not sure of the username. But I was speaking of at the box office, meaning there were a slew of factors that hurt the film much more.It hurt at least one user here, I don't remember who.
