Joker Origin Story Announced

Yeah, that has got to be one of the quickest he's hired/he's quit turnarounds I've seen.

Yeah, and the Dark Knight trilogy wasn't Batman movies; it was Christopher Nolan movies that just happened to have Batman in them.

That's the second time you've shocked Blade today with your strange choices, Kor. There won't be a third, because Blade doesn't do trilogies. He just calls it a job well done at movie number two and then goes home and pays his taxes on time and in full.

He probably had a scheduling conflict or didn't like where the script was going

I bet it was all “He’s playing a Trump like character.” He’s has said that he doesn’t want to play Trump on SNL forever, I doubt he wants it to be thought he’s doing it in a movie, even if in a more serious way.

Thomas Wayne being a Trump like character is a bad idea in the first place.

Mind you, that's just an unconfirmed rumor ("sources say") so we shouldn't take for granted that they're actually planning to do this. I harp on this point only because I'm already seeing folks on the internet treating this rumor as though it's an established fact:

"Count me out! I refuse to see this movie because they're turning Batman's dad into Trump! Stupid Hollywood!"

Um, we don't actually know that yet . . ..

Not a bad look but I was expecting a bit more of something that immediately brought the joker to mind.

 Holy shit. I'm not even angry, this is hilarious. It turns out that letting a bunch of artsy idiots with their heads up their asses who hate comic books and stuff related to comics make a "Joker" movie is bad idea.

I officially apologize to Jared Leto for saying he was the worst Joker. Leto is a pretentious doofus, a terrible actor and an even worse Joker, but compared to Phoenix he's fucking Mark Hamil. I'm sure this movie will be a fucking chore to watch (artsy idiots rarely make anything that is so bad its actually entertaining), but as a concept its driven right past infuriating and gone straight to outright farce. I couldn't think up a better example of pretentious snobs making a "Joker" movie if I tried. Its making fun of itself with just a concept and a few images.

Its not everyday you see literally the worst possible version of something. Its like seeing a Unicorn/leprechaun hybrid. Its a horrifying monstrosity that should not exist, but its fascinating.

Pretty much.

Honestly, just putting him a purple jacket and yellow shirt would have been enough for me.

What is striking you as "artsy" and "pretentious"?
Is there something Phoenix has done that you saw and didn't like?

Phoenix's pre Joker name is "Arthur Fleck"

A.Fleck.

Affleck.
Ben Affleck.
BATMAN CONFIRMED

Also this is the RUMORED story

The Joker’s real name is Arthur Fleck. He is an introvert who moves back with his ailing mother Penny and develops a relationship with his neighbor, single mother Sophie Dumont. Arthur’s attempts to provide for them lead him down a path that pushes him to the edge of sanity and result in his transformation into the Joker.
Joker also narrates the story, described as a "exploration of a man disregarded by society, that is not only a gritty character study, but also a broader cautionary tale."
Arthur works at a hotel managed by world-weary Hoyt Vaughn. His colleagues are the opportunistic conman Randall and the friendly dwarf Gary, and he often interacts with two cops, the honest Garrity and corrupt Burke.
Arthur’s mother Penny once worked for wealthy industrialist Thomas Wayne and is obsessed with him, while Arthur regards him as “cheesy, tanned and rich-looking”. Allegedly it is implied Arthur is Thomas’ bastard son.
Robert De Niro is in final talks to play Murray Franklin, a “fear-mongering talk-show host”.

OK, he might not dress like The Joker yet, but I can see a lot of Joker in the way he walks, and his mannerisms. I'm actually feeling a bit better about this after seeing that video.

:rolleyes::rolleyes: Never mind. If that really is the case, that's one of the silliest plottwists ever.
