Episodes that are considered "good" that you actually dislike

I definitely have to go with City on the Edge of Forever. I find it a good and interesting story, but for me it wasn't the best of Star Trek.
I'm also not a huge fan of Amok Time.

And now, at long last, you finally understand.

T'Bonz keeps telling me that my check is in the mail.

Sorry, didn't mean irreverent. Meant juvenile
Agreed but that's the point!!
It's decent sci-fi but than there's people acting like JUVENILES!!
It's not Star Trek, don't try and make it be and it's a decent hour of entertainment.

I think the entire concept of A Piece of the Action to be illogical. It's not one I rewatch. I know its popular, but I have no interest in it.
It's meant to be funny, a spoof if you will!!!
Fizbin...
KIrk talking with his accent and
Spock, When he talks with that accent or is struggling to...HYSTERICAL!!!
And look how it ends with Kirk saying, "They're gonna want a piece of Our Action!!"

Again, can't fight Romulans and Superior Beings who are really little boys every week!

If acting like normal human beings is Juvenile, than I guess I like Juvenile. It's fun, but the characters are really relatable.
Let's not get nuts, they're in the Service, pole dancing on an alien planet or surgically removing someone's leg isn't exactly "Normal" Especially under those circumstances!

And it was said that these are not the best of the best people. These are like the low average tier of the service. and I refuse to believe people in the military shouldn't have "Fun".

There's fun, than there's acting dishonorably.

Humor is a difficult concept

Exactly. They take it too far at times. Don't get me wrong, I like the show but sometimes I wish they'd dial back a little the typical Seth-isms that seem to permeate all of his shows.

There should still be a minimum set of standards and a certain etiquette and/or formality on the bridge. The lack of it is odd at times. Sure people in the military can, and do, have fun, but usually not on duty(without the possibilities of consequences). Any show that features a military hierarchical structure but has the personnel acting like a frat house is pretty strange. When they try to do a serious story and then there is a dick joke, or even something like a reference to the show, Friends, it takes me out of the moment.

Considering that it's a Star Trek analog, I'm not sure you can't compare it to Trek. However your point about it being entertaining is well taken.

Okay? It is a TV show. Its first job it to entertain, not be a treatise on military etiquette.

The writing staff of TNG at that time(season 5) were still writing great episodes but for some reason when it came to the "big event shows", Spock's return, The Borg episode, the season cliffhanger, they botched them.

Completely agree. In fact, one of the first ones I thought of when I read the thread title is "Unification". I feel like even a year or two earlier what we'd have gotten instead would've been more epic or at least exciting, but I always felt even on first broadcast that it was a plot that wasn't worthy of being Spock's return, yes there are some interesting philosophical ideas but when everyone read the line "Spock guest stars on The Next Generation" I can promise you that Patrick Stewart and Brent Spiner eating soup very slowly was the last thing anyone expected :D Leonard Nimoy for his part seems utterly bored and like he's phoning in his performance (compare with the 2009 movie where he seemed genuinely enthused about it.)
