Lucy Lawless on Wynonna would be nearly perfect casting there.

This isn't the kind of Xena news we are looking for, but its too precious to leave behind.

Emily Skopov wrote three Xena eps and produced 12 more, not to mention writing for other TV series we all love (Farscape Andromeda) but that's not what she's spending her time on today.

    You go girl! :bolian:

And then you find out that some people just have too much time on their hands to "think".

    Argh! :brickwall:

It drives me crazy when the "writers" don't do their research.

    http://www.cbr.com/superhero-childhood-crushes-where-are-they-now/

The countdown lists the (2) eps from SHIELD and the (10) eps from Parks & Rec to sum up her post XWP work... but nary a word about nuBSG(16), the Spartacus series (29), Salem (15) or the ongoing AvED (20+) much less 2 miniseries she played in.

And don't even get me started on the photo they picked for the "Now" version of LL from (?) SHIELD.

    nuBSG 2005-2009 https://www.imdb.com/title/tt0407362/mediaviewer/rm3657052928

Now what they did get right was her Xena like commitment to her various causes. :klingon:

So again, explain to me why they picked THAT photo from (?) SHIELD????

Heck, 2009's brief L Word stint would have been an improvement!

I read the first issue. It was a different take on how Xena and Gabrielle meet. I’d have rather it be set during the series than start with a new beginning. I’ll probably check out the next issue to see how it progresses.

So it's a reboot of the entire series then?

Yeah, just read it online. It has Gabrielle and Xena meeting for the first time under completely different circumstances (so, a reboot). The first time, I believe, that Xena has actually been rebooted.

I'm not sure if that's good or bad, but it is one way of getting out of the continuity issues that pop up when trying to place a Xena story within the framework of the original series (like what outfit should Gabrielle wear in a certain time or place, or any story featuring Callisto who really doesn't have any downtime in the original series).

    "I was... I was."

"No, you still are... like 90%" :cardie:

Lucy Lawless and eventually Rob Tapert attended this year's Motor City Comic Con where Rob did seem (minute 23) to put the idea of a reboot out of our misery. :brickwall:

With the latest/last season (?) of AvED, it seems Lucy has been making the comicon circuits.

If it is her last year on AvED, then maybe she will be avail to be on SG next year. :vulcan:

I think its time for Lena Luthor to meet her maternal aunt!

Oh bummer, looks like my great idea will not come to fruition. :sigh:

From the 2018 AvED promo tour, this time in January with Kelly and Ryan.

"Lose the alcohol, lose the chin!"

This "interview" with Lucy 1 month later at Sidney's Mardi Gras parade proves her point. :)

Lucy is interviewed before the Motor City Comic Con in May. Go to minute 5 to hear talk of reboot. :sigh:

I love silly, but what's most frightening is the first minute actually mirrored a XWP storyline. (skip to minute 7 for more Xena) :rommie:

Fan of both Xena and Hercules. Loved how characters used to go from one show to the next.
Plus, it was the only show that did clip shows right.

I totally agree about the clip shows. I especially loved season 3's clip show that "showed" us clips with Ares we'd never seen.

I maintain that Gabrielle wasn't "merely" arrogant as Steven Sears claims, or "petty" as Renee wonders.

Gabrielle was aghast that after following Xena to Brittania, after being abandoned when Xena went after Caesar, tricked into losing her "blood innocence by murdering a priestess, getting impregnated by a dark god, going through an accelerated pregnancy and delivering a child who became a murderer and being forced by Xena to abandon said child to keep Xena from killing her... after doing all that because of and for Xena... it hurt to realize that Xena would turn tail and leave her at the first invitation from a long silent mystery woman.

Then again... if Gabrielle knew more about the mystery of Lao Ma... she would have REALLY been worried!

Interesting commentary attached in this next link, but ignore the video that claims "LL turns 48 today". That video is 51 months out of date!

    http://www.denofgeek.com/uk/tv/xena...why-xena-warrior-princess-was-ground-breaking

Here's another tidbit that claims it's from 3/2018 but its about an interview done 4 years ago.

    https://wgno.com/2018/03/29/birthda...res-how-to-do-the-xena-warrior-princess-call/

The only reason I post it is because I love the quote (from the year 2000) at the end.

"It will hurt people's feelings if they know that no one takes Xena less seriously than me. I love her and love the show and it's given me wonderful things, but I can't handle the intensity of thinking I'm responsible for 25 million people's sense of self."

Here's something from 2018... LL reacting to scenes from Xena and Parks & Recreation.

    One guy's opinion.

    https://www.tvovermind.com/tv-news/still-think-xena-warrior-princess-reboot-work-heres

My thinking is it could work if they bring it to a different era, and instead of "rebooting" we just meet them at a different intersection of their mendi lines.

But set it a bit further ahead in time than we saw with the Mendi episode.

Medieval like Joan of Arc, or piratical Like Grace O'Malley would work for me.

In February we mentioned the first in a "rebooted" Xena comic.

Here's a few reviews on #2-5 of the 4th volume of the Xena series.

Here's a sidebar about the above season 2 episode that I never knew. :vulcan:

You too can live like "Joxer"... for a cool million (once you figure in closing costs and lawyers.

    http://www.latimes.com/business/realestate/hot-property/la-fi-hotprop-ted-raimi-20180710-story.html

I caught "The Furies" last night and OF COURSE I had to sit down and watch the whole thing.

If all you saw of this ep was the slapstick fight in the beginning or this at the end, you could be forgiven for wondering WHY I sat up to watch this again.

But it was so much more once you found that "rational thread" that Lucy talks about in this interview and RJ, Rob and Liz discuss in the next.

"Why other than our crass tendencies, does Xena take off her clothes here?"

If you are near Atlanta this weekend, or Salt Lake City this September, you can catch Renee, "amongst others".

    https://www.deseretnews.com/article...lture-legends-to-headline-fanx-this-fall.html

I have to admit that I find it encouraging whenever I find this show included in more articles now a-days. The more its talked about, reminisced, the more likely someone will once again take up the baton and bring this show back to life. This next link puts Gabrielle's sidekick-ness on the par with Watson, among others.

    https://www.stuff.co.nz/entertainment/tv-radio/tv-guide/104750456/the-righthand-men-we-all-remember

And this March link not only wishes LL Happy Birthday, but puts XWP in some pretty rarefied heroine company.

How important are the later seasons of Hercules to Xena? I've recently switched from Netflix's disc rentals to just buying and renting stuff on Amazon Prime's streaming service, and they have all of Xena to buy, but only the first season of H:TLJ.

The only crucial episodes are the Season 3 episode "Surprise" (watch it after Xena: Season 2's "Ten Little Warlords" but before "Destiny") and the Season 4 two-parter "Armageddon Now" (watch it during Xena: Season 3 between "Maternal Instincts" and "The Bitter Suite"). They are integral Xena myth arc episodes despite being aired on Hercules. This was an attempt to appease a cranky Kevin Sorbo who was extremely upset that the best behind the camera talent was shifted over to Xena after it gained more popularity and critical success than Hercules.

There's also Season 5's Dahak arc which acts as something of a sequel to Xena: Season 3's Hope arc, but FYI it was showran by Kurtzman & Orci. Also, Xena and Gabrielle do not feature in it. It's not nearly as good as Seasons 2-4 of Xena, but was popular enough that Kurtzman & Orci were given the reigns of Xena in Season 5 following Xena: Season 1-4 showrunner R.J. Stewart's departure for Cleopatra 2525. They, uh, they broke it. R.J. Stewart came back to try and right the ship later on. The show was never the same again, but Season 6 has a handful of highlights.

OK, thanks. I was hoping there weren't any direct connections like, I guess I might have to go for the DVDs of H:TLJ. According to Amazon there's a complete series DVD set coming out Sept. 18, so I might just go that route, or maybe if I'm lucky Amazon will add the rest of the series to the streaming service after it comes out.

I watched the series twice before I found out there were eps on HtLJ that keyed into some of the XWP stories. I ended up buying one season of HtLJ along with the 3 eps that originally spun off XWP, but I could have made due with just the 3 original eps.

Hmmm, I thought I already posted about this new Lucy Lawless series, but I was mistaken. This new detective series from down under is slated for ten 1 hour eps.

My fav quote from this ^ article : :techman:

Tonkin said: “With a fascinating and deeply irreverent investigator at its heart, developing this crime series has been the most fun you can have while plotting murder (of the fictional variety).”

Ah... I wondered after this series was announced, if she was still going to be in "Tidelands", the answer appears to be "affirmative.".
