CGI de-ageing effects still look too Uncanny Valley, and Brent's been saying he's too old to play Data for almost 20 years now, so I don't think he'll appear (though he could do a voice-only cameo as he did in TATV).

-I could see him being deaged to Nemesis age (like Arnie in T Genisys – I dont mean the 1984 T800 but 'Pops' in 1984 was slightly CG'd to look like Arnie in the mid 1990s). anyway once they put the makeup and wig on maybe he wont look all that different anyway without CG (he looked pretty much the same in ID:R to how he did in ID4)

I just hope they are brave enough to take the show in an unexpected direction. Unlike their work on Discovery.

Discovery went in a completely different direction from the other shows in my opinion.

But hopefully you're right...the Picard series should do likewise.

Hopefully, it's just Picard. I'd like to see this distance itself from the "TNG Reunion Show" and be something different...a nice character study on a hero past his prime, perhaps?

Maybe it will have a TWOK/GEN vibe with Picard (instead of Kirk) unexpectedly needing to take command of a mission that he was more of a "guest" on...and needing to fight through the rust and fact that he's not in his prime any more.

I don't know, man. Wild speculation is really dangerous and only sets people up for grand levels of disappointment.

I think if you're going with a solo Picard, I'd rather see him doing something outside of Starfleet. Like, archeology. Maybe something like "The Chase" in theme, but on a larger scale with Picard in the Galen role.

Yup.

Yup.

I agree. Weave in a very personal story that explores the changes in the character it that would be a winner if executed well.

Data and Q would need to go the way of the CGI'd Leia treatment. Sure they could recast, but can you imagine someone else playing Data and Q?

Q would just say: "My dear Jean Luc -- how could I let you age so ungracefully without offering a sacrifice of my own?"

Done.

Yes. I'm a TNGer most of all...

In fact, I've been re-watching it on and off the past couple months. I just don't see Q saying that.... He'd basically be insulting himself and be "beneath" himself. No, just no.

Nah. Q wouldn't give a shit what he looked like. After all, he doesn't really "look" like anything. He would make an excuse about how it would make things easier to relate to Picard on whatever personal journey he's now on, as someone different than the guy who commanded the Enterprise all those years ago (the point of the series, from what we're told).

Anyway, it would work fine for me. YMMV.

When I said insulting himself, I meant he'd be sinking himself to the self-absorbness of humanity from his perceptive of Humanity.

I just don't think he'd bother saying that.

He's done it before, e.g. when he made the decision of a "selfless act" to save Picard and the Enterprise. Q has grown as a character as much as Picard has, in a symbiotic way. The two need each other more than they think. I think the new series would be remiss to NOT explore an evolved Picard-Q relationship, so many years post-Crimes of Humanity trial.

I don't think so. I think Data had it right when he implied Q saw Picard as a pet in All Good Things. He didn't grow. His perception of Picard changed. He didn't change.
