Contest: ENTER July 2018 Art Challenge - "Unseen Scenes"

In Star Trek it often seems like the advetures we see onscreen are only the tip of the iceberg. In the series' we also hear of many other events that have occurred but that we never actual see.

So, for July's Art Challenge your task is to depict one of these unseen events from Trek's history. You could create a ship for which we've only heard a name. Maybe show what happened during the Talarian Conflict or the Battle of Klach d'kel Brakt. Or something more character orientated; Spock and the Klingon Mindsifter, Emony Dax meeting McCoy, or that bar where the girls are so... ;)

As per the usual rules, only one entry per person, which should be created within the month of this challenge.

Please post your final entry in this thread. The deadline for entries is midnight 31ST JULY... extended to the end of 3RD AUGUST.

Have fun! :bolian:

(Please see the Art Challenge guidelines and list of past contests in the FAQ thread)

Let's see how it goes, there might be some last minute entries.

I'm willing to add a few days onto the deadline if anyone needs it (I might need the extra time myself).

I've got a couple of ideas that I'm now about to make a start on, one of which I hope to have in a state resembling finished by the 31st. I've just found it difficult to get my mind in the right place this month as it's been so bloody hot here, recently. However, it's cool and rainy now - proper British summertime, at last!

I got started late on an idea but a family emergency threw me off of it. I doubt I'll finish before the deadline.

Okay, I'm going to be a little busy mid-week so let's say I post the voting thread this Saturday. That'll give everyone until the end of the 3rd August to finish their entries. :)

So let's see how this goes. It's not great - my art rarely is - but it's in:

So the challenge was about seeing the unseen in Trek. Now, there's this guy out there who keeps making noise about the Battle of Axanar, which Kirk mentioned in the third season ep "Whom Gods Destroy." And despite all the noise, no one - including that guy, who shall remain nameless here - has ever depicted that battle, which I guess makes it "unseen," so I used my meager talents to try and show it.

The above image shows scenes from the Battle of Axanar, where a young Captain Garth, in command of the USS Constitution, takes on an invasion force of three Klingon ships.

Call it, "Axanar, MY Way." :)

Hopefully it's in on time, and it's not my best work, but I'll be happy to try again next contest.

It's not how I hoped it'd be, but here's my entry:

This is one of the various times that Jake Sisko has babysat for Vilix'Pran (mentioned in DS9: "Business As Usual"
EDIT: I've replaced the pic with one that says "July" rather than "August"...

^ I'm glad someone got it :) (It was originally called "Adventures in Babysitting", but as I haven't seen that film, but I have read Calvin & Hobbes a million times, it couldn't be anything but!)

You should see that film, though. It's great. It's like Revenge of the Babysat from the babysitter's viewpoint.

- I love it! It conveys a great sense of action. That's a very unique style you have there, Admiral2.

@Starscape, great choice of unseen scene. Book-stack Kirk really is very Looney Tunes - Brilliant! Gary Mitchell (well, his head, anyway) has a Family Guy thing going on, in my eyes. A Looney Tunes - Family Guy crossover special event comic!

EDIT: Oh, I was replying as you did, Admiral2. I read the synopsis and did make a note to watch it. I'm going to see if I can find it somewhere now...

Thank you for saying so, but TBH it's less "unique" and more "hopelessly self taught and falling far short of the mark, style-wise." I was going for Alex Toth drawing Jonny Quest.

I can tell you it's available for purchase and rent on Google Play. I'm not sure about other sources.

@Admiral2, I love your comic style! The scan (or photo?) looks a bit blurry, but your art style is top notch.

@Starscape, cool entry! Funnily enough, a depiction of that dialog was also on my list of possible ideas for this contest.

@Cyfa, what a marvellous idea! And something right up your alley. Nice pencil work there!

I know I'm late with my entry, but I hope I'll still be able to enter. :)

Here's my idea of what a Breen might look like under his helmet …

Thank you!

Yes, photo, because I completed it during downtime at work and used my phone to get a picture of it. The blur comes from me trying to sharpen it with the phone's image adjustments instead of a proper art program. I'll know better next time.
