New Star Trek Series following Pike as Captain of Enterprise

It's all about momentum. By the time they would make a series with the Enterprise, Disco Fans will have already had a full season of Pike. It would make more sense to go with Pike at that point. Most people would be like, "Who the Hell is April?" Whereas, to stick to examples from this century, Pike would already be known from the Abrams Films and Discovery.

Usually a spin-off will star someone seen in the previous series. "If you want to see more of Pike, check out this new series! If you like Discovery, you'll love ______!"

Jesus H. Christ, can’t we just have a better Star Trek: Discovery, and not worry about more sequels? I mean, other than the ship and the crew, how would any new show be any different than DSC anyway?

No spore drive? Different characters? Tonally closer to the type of show they want? Closer to what they want in general?

It's all just speculating for fun. I'm not in a hurry for Yet Another Series, especially aboard the Enterprise. Though I get why people who don't like Discovery would want a different series. They want a show they like. I, on the other hand, would be happy with just DSC. Here's hoping it runs until the mid-2020s.

CBS is, without a doubt, setting up the Pike series. Mount & Romijn are big casts. I think they are looking at more than 1 year.

Or cast Hayley Atwell as Captain April Robert!

Best idea I've heard in a long time!

Two series running at the same time....I see no problem. Some people watch all of CSI, some only one series. Just don't put all the effort into a second series and neglect Discovery. Burnham took you to the prom, now don't be an ass and leave her hanging out to dry. That's my advice to TPTB.

There were rumours of a Pike-led spinoff last year, but with what we know of season 2 right now I wonder if maybe someone say concept art and casting lists of S2 Disco and assumed it was for a new series.

That said, if Pike is likeable and whoever they cast as adult Spock for the end of the season is any good, they could do a spin-off. The story would have to be unique to the Enterprise crew though, if it were generic episodes that could just as easily be on the Discovery then there's no point.

I feel like having multiple Trek series at the same time isn't really a thing we absolutely need to do again.

The problem with Berman Trek is each show was too samey. This time around the potential is there to offer different styles of Trek tailored to different factions which, as everyone knows from discussions here, don't get along too well.

Now, if every show has the same vibe as Discovery, then that opportunity will have been squandered.

Most episodes within those shows were too samey also, IMO

I don't see any difference between an April or a Pike series, other than that we've seen Pike once or twice and April is barely even a name. He's literally nobody at this point.
There was a novel (not canon I know) written by Diane Carey that featured April. From what I recall he liked to call his crew "children." LOL.

I would call it Star Trek Legend. Because if I recall correctly, I remember reading that the Enterprise was already a legendary ship by the time Kirk took command, as under Captain Pike, they had already established a lot of events that made that ship the best representation of Starfleet there was.

I feel that likelihood of a series about Captain Pike and the Enterprise is so very extremely nonexistent. Like in addition to what everyone else already said, Enterprise already has its movies with Captain Kirk and crew, and it'd be totally confusing to people having two such similar franchises going simultaneously, right? And right now Discovery is totally CBS All Access' flagship program, I'd think only limited series are going to come out until it's over, and certainly not two so similar at the same time.

I'm really hoping we're going to get something totally different! :)

What's the point? It would just be Discovery with a different cast. This would not be a series in the style of TOS just because it's set on the same ship. The inclusion of known characters would also drive up fanwanky expectations by 5000%

I'd rather have something different as a spin-off.
