USS Enterprise (eventually) on Discovery?

Ok?

What does this have to do with DSC’s Enterprise?

The only thing I can think of is this: if the upgraded Defiant seen in the computer graphic in DSC was really meant to be this ship (the Prime universe Defiant), then why does the Enterprise seen in DSC not look exactly like it, if DSC supposedly takes place in the Prime universe?

I suspect that this is an example of another disconnect between scripting and visualization on S1 of DSC, along with Starbase 1 and the planetary body it is shown orbiting and quite possibly the D7 designation too.

Behind the scenes, the intent was that the Defiant had been modified in the Mirror Universe [link]. In fairness, it is believable that it would be modified.

What isn't believable, though, is that the crew of DSC just casually refer to it as Constitution-class without even a single remark about those modifications.

The problems show a pretty sloppy handling of things behind the scenes. Someone should've been making sure what was being built was matching what was being written.

Hopefully they solve this in season two.

I don't know? There was some turmoil behind the scenes. Maybe now that that is ironed out, they'll get their act together?
I hope so. The trek universe seems to be going thru some adjustments, similarly do too is Star Wars. Is this a problem industry wide? Are they just unable to grasp the soul of a genre and IP and find a spot that can satisfy new and old fans alike? I wonder if Doctor Who will also have to make adjustments if this new season doesn't take off..? Interesting seeing how all this plays out, meanwhile they have to keep flogging their own horns to keep interest, as they work on their new offerings. Its a lot to do for any studio, all the support staff, and writers. It's a task that can have high stakes. Go off in one direction could lead to disaster or success. It really is hard to tell where to go I am sure. But where it's been, that has all the mistakes made that can be learned from.

Because of this...

MIRROR-ARCHER: They're gutting the ship.

[...]

MIRROR-TUCKER: Engineering's been stripped to the bulkheads. But the good news is, most of what they took was still sitting in my hangar deck. But I need time to figure out how to put it all back together.

[...]

MIRROR-T'POL: The logical course of action is to take Defiant to Earth, allow Starfleet to study it, reverse-engineer its systems.

[...]

MIRROR-ARCHER: They're never going to give you this ship, you know that. They'll tear it apart, try to learn its secrets.

It was even confirmed by Ted Sullivan on Twitter. Besides, we already knew that ships can receive periodic refits, and that this can alter their appearance, sometimes drastically. But just in case we forgot, they deliberately dropped us a subtle reminder at the outset of the episode, by mentioning that the Cooper-Prime was supposed to be undergoing one.

Moreover, in both the original ("The Doomsday Machine") and remastered ("The Ultimate Computer") versions of TOS, we saw that the Enterprise and her sister ships weren't always precisely identical in arrangement. And it's long been widely accepted that the Enterprise went through at least one or two refits between the first pilot, second pilot, and series proper. Why not another?

I hope.

There's a great series in this mess just waiting to get out and prove myself and other doubters and critics wrong. I'd like to be proven wrong and watch this become the next great Star Trek series. I want to like it a lot more than I do.

But the producers need to figure out what they want this series to be, because the badge of honor inscribed "CBS All Access flagship series with the name 'Star Trek' " isn't going to carry it all by itself.

If you're referring to the purple bit and how far it sticks out, I think that's a cutaway feature added by Anovos, like on the Discovery nacelle.
Same goes for the different looking port nacelle. The front cap is taken off, which makes it look a bit different.
