Early reviews have repeatedly suggested that the film should've been called The Wasp and Ant-Man because of Lilly's standout performance.Indeed, think she could carry a solo film, or have him as her sidekick?

Haven't see the film, don't know but I wonder how much is due to him playing the idiot slacker. They set up in the first film that she seemed to be better than him at all this stuff. She just wasn't allowed out due to her Dad.Early reviews have repeatedly suggested that the film should've been called The Wasp and Ant-Man because of Lilly's standout performance.
That's kind of my take. That she was in the first film but now she's being tweaked like he was. There wasn't strong audience interest in the Peggy Carter TV series. That doesn't mean necessarily, that would be no interest in a Carter appearance in a Marvel movie, especially if the character made a great appearance in a great Marvel movie, something we've seen time and again.Only problem with that is there isn't really enough material with her to sustain a trilogy. And her TV series failed, meaning there isn't strong audience interest.
Glad Marvel doesn't think this way, we might never have gotten an Iron Man or Capain America movie and the MCU might never have gotten off the ground if they did. Marvel thinks less about name recognition or whether their characters appear "able to carry a series" among the general audience and more about creating great movies for obscure characters and how to introduce them into the general public's consciousness.Am I the only one who took his statement as more female lead films rather than women taking a more prominent supporting roles. Like with the upcoming Captain Marvel and Black Widow. I'm not sure what other female heroes could shoulder a series
Although Fox probably has Doop's movie rights, hence why they couldn't make that film. It would have been their first choice otherwise, of course. They still went for the biggest and most recognisable names they had. It's no coincidence that they kicked off the mcu with Iron Man, Hulk, Thor and Captain America rather than Forbush man, Stingray, Arabian Knight and Doop.

Sorry, couldn't think of an other obscure character other than the green spud.Although Fox probably has Doop's movie rights, hence why they couldn't make that film. It would have been their first choice otherwise, of course.

[Inside Info] = I think Peggy/Hayley will be part of AOS S6. Maybe they'll announce it at SDCC.
Yeah, the "biggest" and most "recognizable" to comic book fans. The general public knew very little of these characters prior to the release of the first MCU movies. But through brilliant casting, superb marketing, and most importantly, genuinely great movies, which generated great word of mouth, Marvel was able to bring fans who had never heard of these second tier characters into the theater, thereby turning the first MCU movies into blockbusters. They still went for the biggest and most recognisable names they had. With this I completely agree, now that you've done a movie about a talking tree and sarcastic raccoon anythings possible. My point is that this same strategy could be applied to any of Marvel"s characters regardless of the lead character's gender. At this point, I doubt Kevin Fiege looks at any Marvel characters as being unable to carry a movie series, especially because of a character's gender.
Then why reboot the character after a movie flopped so recently. Why not give his spot on the team to ant-man (a movie that was pitched before Iron Man) or Mockingbird. These were not big characters like Spidy or Batman but Marvel went with the biggest names they had.the Hulk show may have been popular in the 80s but it didn't exactly age well and was followed by a movie that featured giant green poodles. These were not valuable properties.

Cap might be corny pop culture but the average person on the street had heard of him by your logic. Same goes for Thor in babysitting adventures.
Reading through this thread it seems to have been quite cleverly designed to get a rise out of people, but in a way that is more subtle than people are used to. The first post brings up Star Wars for no reason whatsoever, just in case there are some Rey fans in this general channel. Note the skill here - the OP clearly specified that he is NOT a sexist, because trolling via racism or sexism is "going too far". When the Rey reference failed to get the expected rise out of people a pivot was needed, so a list of comics (some rather obscure) was made, along with a statement about one of the comics which was incorrect. When confronted with this mistake, the pivot was complete and the argument switched to whether or not comics are dead and gone.
I have to say this is a master class is subtle agitation, though the reaction from the people here was subdued, affecting the OP's fun.
Yeah I am both impressed by the effort, and also calling it out. We're used to his inane antics![]()
