Why do ghosts always wear clothes?

There's an idea that ghosts are imprints or like cosmic residue from the past. So you're not seeing the "spirit" or "soul", you're seeing an imprint of that person, which would include clothes, unless the imprint was of an individual who was nude at the time.

Or if there's no such thing as time and everything happens all at once, you're seeing a "piercing the veil" effect of timelines getting all fucked up.

Or something. I don't know anything.

Ah, but if they don't exist, you can't say they don't wear clothes. They can't not wear clothes. In fact, since they don't exist, they equally can and cannot wear clothes. Think of it as dividing by zero. But totally different.

I think it's possible that none of us exist nor are we real.
I suggest that we all forgo our nonexistent clothes this weekend and see what happens.

The nonexistence of ghosts means there's no noncorporeal entity to wear clothes. More to the point, there's no noncorporeal entity to convey the impression that it's wearing clothes. Kiri-kin-tha's First Law of Metaphysics ("Nothing unreal exists") is applicable here rather than Schrödinger's Cat since the cat exists and the phantom doesn't.
What about ghost cats?

I’d completely forgotten about the ghost cats.

We had a cat, so we’re used to the thing under our feet. Being aware of the cats movements, feeling up brush against a leg, or catch it snoozing on the shelf in the corner of the eye. Except that it wasn’t the cat, that one would be in the garden, or on the sofa. It was very odd.

One side effect of having nine lives is that cats live so long, through reincarnation I would gather is this is more than enough time to come to terms with any emotional issues or trauma and thus by the time they have maxed out on life number 9 their is nothing left on Earth keeping them, here. I know cat's don't live as long as humans but that is judging them by how we judge time. One Cat lifespan in human years is maybe 60 plus years old thus cats can be around for over 300 plus years by the time they finally die for good. This is why they don;'t ever listen to humans. They see us as young children and thus who are we to tell them where to poop at or what to tear up in a house. By the time they get to you it means you might possibly be pet human number 50 or so and once your gone they just go get a new human.

They see us as an inferior species.

I do recall reading of a nude ghost in a book about haunted hostelries. I don't have the volume to hand right now, so can't give exact details, but I recall it being of a young woman seen in an old pub, leaning over and tending a fireplace with a poker, wearing naught but a friendly smile. She was generally described as charming.

As to what ghosts are, I lean toward the echo/recording theory; TC Lethbridge had a couple of interesting ideas on that front. Not had any real experiences myself, unless you count smelling cigar smoke in a house where no-one smoked at all, or had for years, but I keep an open mind.

I'm more inclined to believe I would be having a faulty neurological event than to entertain the notion of actual spiritual beings, dark matter/energy be damned. The old noodle isn't infallible.

Always carry a second pair of pants.

And prophylactics. Remove the sheet from the ghost and who knows what it'll do. Ask Stantz...

That'd deped on the ghost. If it's a sexy one, I might be interested.

Maybe ghosts like the mystery. Just like the Scotts never reveal what (if anything) they wear under their kilts.

Anyone else remember one of my favorite shows from the 80s? :
