2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia

I was rooting for Nigeria but though their team has potential they're not quite competitive, yet. Now Senegal's the only African team still in the running. Hopefully, they'll make it to the next stage but it won't be easy. I really liked Japan in their last game, too.

It was sad to see that Maradona has become such a joke. Ugh.

South Korea scored. Embarrassing. The Germans lacked stamina and perseverance. They were lethargic.
It will be Löw's end. If he doesn't resign by himself they will convince him to go. I guess he wants to go on vacation first.

Auf Wiedersehen

WOW I cannot believe what I just saw. It was near the end of my shift at work and most of us were crammed in snackbar watching last few minutes of telly and the general mood was :wtf: then :guffaw:

First time since 1938 Germany have exited at the first round and now in 4 of the last 5 World Cup's and the 3rd in a row, we've seen the defending champions dumped out in the Group Stage.

What a disaster. I can't believe that's how the Löw era ends. :(

Will Low be sacked? His record up to now has been amazing with...

WC 2006 - Semi Final
EU 2008 - Runners Up
WC 2010 - Semi Final
EU 2012 - Semi Final
WC 2014 - Winners
EU 2016 - Semi Final

Surley he's allowed one bad tournament?

Well.. with such a showing over 3 games Germany deserved this defeat. Against Sweden they showed at least some fighting spirit (and won although the winning shot is difficult to pull off under such a pressure).

It's not the first time a champion lets itself go and hopes to skate by, in this case it didn't work and maybe it is time for yet another new start and rebuild of the german team that started way back in the early 00s and was rewarded with the World Cup in 2014.

The headcoach, Jogi Löw, will find it very difficult to keep his job (if he even wants to) as there were quite some controversial player choices before the tournament (such as not nominating a very young and very good player which everybody expected) so this opens himself up to tremendous critique.

The next months will be quite interesting.

Thank you Jögi, you did well and a lot. Now it is up to someone else, so take your hat like a gentleman.
