Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

I love the ROTS opening space battle. I get a sense of mass chaos, that is present in real combat, throughout. I never felt that in another SW space fight.

My .02:

I didn't like the ROTS space battle as much as the one in ROTJ. The one in EP III was just the backdrop against which Anakin and Obi-Wan were going after the Chancellor. Except for those two, there were no other characters involved other than a mass of nameless, faceless clones and battle droids. In terms of the larger Clone Wars, nothing was really at stake.

ROTJ was another matter entirely. This was the whole Rebel Alliance betting everything on a desperate plan and a roll of the dice- the kind where you have to roll the hard six or it's game over. Even more so once they realized it was a trap and the bulk of the Imperial fleet was eagerly waiting for them. All the characters were involved, either in space or on the ground. And the visuals, even using models and motion-capture, arguably looked better than the whole CGI extravaganza in EP III.

I wish I could like this multiple times.

He also had a convention appearance cancelled around the same time as the filming period, which was because of filming commitments which started some rumours last week.

Although

Sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Williams will indeed be returning to the Star Wars film franchise

"Sources" so it might not be true, but it is Hollywood reporter.

Glad to hear he's finally coming back, I was really disappointed we didn't see him in the other two new saga movies.

Nah, he's obviously going to fill in the scoundrel role left by Han just like in ROTJ ;)
I mean, I’m glad BDW is back but with his failing health I just can’t see him playing much of a starring/action role. Then again, they used CGI for Christopher Lee in his duel on ROTS

Well, he doesn’t need to be jumping around with a lightsaber or getting into fire fights. Put him in a chair like Ackbar or have him walk with a cane and flying the Falcon one last time and it’s all good. But no. I hope they don’t kill him and with Han and Luke, I felt like it was the logical progression. I don’t see that with Lando. And I would hope with Carrie Fisher’s unfortunate demise and BDW and Tony Daniels being the last of the old guard (unless they bring back Denis Lawson’s Wedge), they would leave them to survive. But if he does go down, I hope he goes down in one hell of a blaze of glory! (Preferably not with Chewie and/or the Falcon.)
