Episode IX Speculation and Discussion

It’s rumor... all of it.

Sorry, as far back I can see this starts with vlogger Mike Zeroh. Who is full of bullshit.
Well the part where they're filming at the same place as the Yavin Hangars didn't come from Mike AFAIK. It came from someone who blogs about people filming in that area. I even posted about it in this thread a few weeks ago.

Honestly? It doesn't at all. Star Wars lends itself to the "small universe" paradigm, which is a shame.
Except when it comes to background aliens in the new movies.

Excellent cast but how can they possibly serve all these characters in less than 3 hours?
Looking forward to seeing Fisher again but I hope the extra footage doesn't stand out too much as being from episode VII.

it stands to reason that the new movie is open to anything JJ wants..

Didn't Rian Johnsson himself say something along those lines? That he did talk with JJ about his ideas for episodes VIII, but that he also knew that whoever came after him could basicly throw that out and still make Rey of 'important' heritage?

I believe he indeed said something like that there where no rules he should follow while making EP 8

I will continue to say this, but people expecting Abrams to come in and change the 'Rey's parentage reveal' into something else besides what Johnson did are most likely going to end up being disappointed, because it's a matter of public record that Abrams not only fully endorsed Rian's narrative choices, he also told Rian that both he and Rian had independently arrived at the same narrative conclusion regarding Rey's parents: they were nobodies who were only important to the story because they were important to Rey.

Interesting, considering Rian himself said that it wasn't set in stone, and if the writers/producers/directors wanted to change it for E-IX they could.

EDIT: http://www.joblo.com/movie-news/ria...ey-s-parents-is-still-open-for-episode-ix-260

So yeah, taking Rian's own words on this really.

DigificWriter doesn't seem to understand that just because JJ or Rian Johnson or any other production staff says something, it doesn't mean they can never deviate from that position. These aren't statements under oath.

Exactly my point. Both made it clear nothing is set in stone. So sure, she might be a Skywalker after all. Or a Kenobi. Or she could be exactly what was said in The Last Jedi.

I don't believe you can legally testify under oath that you will or won't do something in the future anyway.

If there's a legal analogy it's this: such statements do not constitute a contract with the public.

This is the common-sense and socially accepted proposition that people can change their minds. :techman:

Wild suggestion, just putting it out there: How about we wait and actually watch the movie before we pass judgement on specific creative decisions they've made..or have possibly yet to make?
