Top Five Moments - season 3

Sophie74656

Commodore
Commodore
A lot of good episodes this season.

1)The Chute - the scene at the ens where Tom tells harry how he remembee harry defending him. Such a great bromance.

2) Blood Fever - basically all the parts where B'elanna is throwing herself at Tom ;)

3) Displaced - the scene i engineering where Belanna asks harry if he thinks she's hostile...and harry just looks terrified

4)Real Life - the end with the doctor's daughter dying. Great job by robert picardi.

5)remember - the end when belanna confronts the aliens about their past

Sacred Ground
Kathryn finally takes matters ... on faith

The Q and the Grey
Miss Q's invidious warning to Janeway to leave Q alone

Basics
Chakotay's tenderly covering the body of Seska

Flashback
Tuvok challenges Sulu

Blood Fever
Torres: I have picked up your scent, Tom. I've tasted your blood.

Another hard season to pick just 5.

1. Unity- Several scenes stand out here. I guess the best for me was when Chakotay joins the collective to be healed and then feels such a powerful connection to Riley. The flashes of memory are so fantastically done here and the chemistry between the two is genuine.

2. Scorpion- The opening scene with the 15 cubes is terrifying, Chakotay and Janeway moving in unison and thinking as one, the sight of the cubes all destroyed. They had me on the edge of my seat throughout this episode. Great character development, fantastic new alien species 8472, even the ending where the cube sacrifices itself to protect Voyager. Loved all of it but that opening sequence...amazing.

3. Coda- Chakotay crying over Janeway's dead body. So touching.

4.Distant Origin- The scene pleading for the 'judge' to accept the truth but she refuses. So much passion by both Gegen and Chakotay for the truth to win out only to be crushed under the weight of denial and fear.

5. The Chute- Harry facing the mob to protect Paris. The boy becomes a man in this episode and a bond is formed that survives 4 more years of Voyager.

Other scenes stand out too but i guess these top the list.

(In no order)

1. Sacred ground. The ritual disrobing symbolizing our captain divesting herself of her science.
2. Q and the Grey. "Now you start talking before I hurl you into the brig."
3. The Chute. The bromance. "This man is my friend. No one touches him."
4. Remember- The whole episode was deep.
5. Scorpion- 8472 sends the ship rolling and Paris gets it back to warp. Seems like a physics issue but it was intense at the time.

IMHO this season is the beginning of the best of Voyager, but I'd have to think longer about my exact favorite moments. I'm almost done with my first rewatch of season 2 so I should be jogging my memory on s3 soon.
For now here are my top 5 episodes and I'll hash out the "moments" later-

1. Scorpion
2. Distant Origin
3. Blood Fever (okay, Chak in the grey jumpsuit is my favorite part of this one, but everyone is pretty sexy: Tom, B'Elanna, Tuvok, ...all of em. Maybe except Neelix) ;)
4. Future's End I (the Santa Monica Pier/ boardwalk scene gave me a good nostalgia rub, but not sure that's my fav moment precisely)
5. Before and After (or maybe Worst Case Scenario)

I have to disagree. Season 2 was the best Voyager season. Season 3 was OK but had more not so good episodes than season 2 and season 1.

After season 3, it went all way down. :weep:

As for my favorite season 3 top 5 moments:

1. The scene in "Basics" when the ship returns to the planet where the crew is stranded.

2. Kes's speech to Tieran in "Warlord" She's tough!:
KES: You're already deteriorating and it's only going to get worse. I'll find every little crack in your defences. You'll feel yourself crumbling from within, your sanity slipping away. I won't stop until you're broken and helpless. There's nowhere you can go to get away from me. I'll be relentless and merciless, just like you.

3. Almost every scene with the amazing Henry Starling in "Future's End"

4. The scene with Neelix and Wixiban deciding to help each other out of the situation they caused. Touching!
NEELIX: This has gone too far. We have to go to Bahrat.
WIXIBAN: We'll end up in his cryostatic prison for decades.
NEELIX: Not if he agrees to my plan.
WIXIBAN: Your plan is crazy. It's worse than prison, it's a death sentence.
NEELIX: That would be better than living a lie. I'm going whether you do or not.
WIXIBAN: Neelix! We've been through too much together. I can't let you do this alone.

5. This conversation between Q and Janeway about Chakotay in "The Q and The Grey". Funny!
Q: I was wondering, Kathy. What could anyone possibly see in this big oaf, anyway? Is it the tattoo? Because mine's bigger!
(And covers the left half of his face.)
JANEWAY: Not big enough.

I totally agree, each eason got better and better

I also have to disagree. Seadon 6 was the start of a decline imo but there are still great episodes. Season 7 was the worst of any season. Sure, there some exceptional episodes like The Void and Shattered but they basically took the doctor down a path i disliked, contradicted themselves in episodes like Shattered and Endgame, and became so skewed toward only a few characters it was noticable, at least to me. Not to say the season was all bad, but certainly mediocre at best imo.

Yikes, strongly disagree. But to each their own

Basics II 3 x 01

Suder has been dealing with his serial killer tendencies while trying to retake Voyager from the Kazon, He's relied heavily on the teachings he's learned from Tuvok, and the support he's received from the EMH. Unfortunately, when he needs the EMH the most, Suder finds him unavailable.

SESKA: Goodbye, Doctor. I'd rather not take any more chances.
(Seska shoots at his hologram control panel, and he disappears.
(Down on the planet, the entire range of hills is starting to erupt. Suder returns to Sickbay.)
SUDER: Doctor? Activate Emergency Medical Holographic Program.
COMPUTER: Unable to respond. All Starfleet voice access has been cancelled.

[Doctor's office]

EMH [on monitor]: Mister Suder. If you are hearing this, you have just unsuccessfully attempted to access the Emergency Medical Program. I have programmed this message to play in the event that I have been disabled. This means, of course, that the fate of Voyager now depends solely on you. I can imagine how you must feel at this moment. I want you to know, you have my full confidence. You have already shown great courage and dedication to your crew. I have left an additional message for Captain Janeway and Lieutenant Tuvok noting your heroism, in case I am irretrievable. You know what you have to do and when to do it, and I know with our fate in your hands, we will prevail. Good luck, Mister Suder.
(The ship shakes under the Talaxian attack.)

The end of The Swarm. 3 x 04

While Janeway et al have been battling the alien of the week, Kes has to step up and take over for an increasingly forgetful Doctor. She enlists B'Elanna and the EMH's diagnostic matrix who represents Dr. Zimmerman on Earth to fix him. Unfortunately, to fix him they may end up losing everything they've come to "love" about the program.

Here's the final scene, after the diagnostic program "sacrifices itself" to help save the EMH.

[Sickbay]

KES: It seems to be taking forever.
TORRES: That's to be expected. It's a complex procedure.
KES: Doctor Zimmerman said he didn't know if our Doctor would be restored to his programming or he'd regain the memories of the past two years.
TORRES: I think at this point we'd be glad to have him back no matter what.
COMPUTER: Zimmerman program alpha one is now complete.
KES: Computer, activate Emergency Medical Holographic Program.
EMH: Please state the nature of the medical emergency.
KES: It worked! Doctor, I am so glad to see you.
EMH: Are you ill, young woman?
KES: No. No, there's no emergency. I, er, I just wanted to see if you were all right.
EMH: It is very irresponsible to make such frivolous use of the EMH. Where's your Chief Medical Officer?
KES: We don't have one.
TORRES: Actually I have an awful headache.
EMH: A headache. Nurse, tricorder. You're the nurse?
KES: In a way.
EMH: This woman has a mild inflammation of the occipital tissues. Hardly enough to complain about but I'm willing to give you a mild analgesic.
TORRES: Thank you.
EMH: Get me the vasal constrictor and prepare a hypo-spray with three percent hydrocortaline.
KES: Yes sir.
(Kes and B'elanna look downtrodden as she hands him the instrument... then a miracle happens and they both smile!)
EMH: (hums the tune then sings) il sogno ch'io vorrei sempre sognar!

Before & After, 3 x 21

Even though we know its going to happen, its still a shock to see B'Elanna and Janeway both die.

[Holodeck - Paxau resort]

KES: Tom.
PARIS: Hey, Kes, some party, huh?
KES: I have to talk to you.
TORRES: Tom, I'm sorry I'm late.
(Paris greets Torres with a kiss.)
KES: You must be B'Elanna.
TORRES: Well, the last time I checked.
PARIS: Something wrong?
KES: Actually, there is something wrong.
(Whumph!)
JANEWAY [OC]: Red alert. All hands to battle stations.

[Bridge]

JANEWAY: Tuvok, fire phasers.
TUVOK: Acknowledged.
CHAKOTAY: Who the hell are they?
KES: They're called the Krenim.
JANEWAY: How do you know that?
KES: Captain Janeway?
JANEWAY: What is it, Kes? What do you know about them?
TUVOK: Shields down to thirty nine percent, Captain.
CHAKOTAY: I don't understand how these torpedoes are ripping right through our shields.
JANEWAY: Evasive maneuvers, Mister Paris. B'Elanna, can we reroute power to the forward shields?
TORRES: Already trying.
KES: Captain, these torpedoes are chroniton based. They're passing through our shields because they're in a state of temporal flux.
(Another torpedo hits Voyager, and the Engineering console explodes, sending Janeway and Torres flying.)
KES: They're dead.
PARIS: B'Elanna!
KIM: Hull breach on deck seven. We're losing life support.
CHAKOTAY: Evacuate the deck. Tom, I need you at the conn.
PARIS: Aye, sir.

Scorpion I : 3 x 26

There are so many "moments" in this ep, the scene when they realize not two, not four but FIFTEEN Borg cubes are bearing down on their position is definitely one!

But this next quiet scene between Janeway and Chakotay in her ready room is another.

JANEWAY: Three years ago, I didn't even know your name. Today I can't imagine a day without you.
