Are you kidding? Being stuck to one surface by your feet when subjected to such an acceleration would just break your ankles or something. Or send your head flailing into the nearest hard surface at high velocity. It's the worst imaginable way to anchor yourself against acceleration. Handholds and seat restraints would make infinitely more sense, as would strapping in before the ship undergoes thrust or enters a situation where unpredictable thrusting might be required. I mean, think about riding a subway or bus. Just having your feet on the floor doesn't protect you from accelerations. You still need to sit down or hang onto a pole or strap. And if your feet were actually stuck to the floor of the subway, so that you couldn' t easily move them to shift your weight, that would make it more dangerous. Magnetic boots have been tried in space in real life, and they can't work. The magnetism interferes with shipboard electronics, and spaceships are made mostly of lightweight materials that aren't magnetic to begin with. They're a necessary gimmick for shooting on Earth, but they're every bit as fanciful as any magic artificial gravity field. Even more so, really, since we actually know exactly why they can't possibly work as shown, whereas at least artificial gravity can be presumed to be based on some as-yet-undiscovered principle.
If you're floating free and the ship suddenly shifts around you, it's pretty much instant death. If you feet are locked to a surface you at least have a *chance* at bracing yourself on a bulkhead, or something. Severe ankle damage is preferable to certain death, no? This isn't really up for debate since we saw exactly this not two or three episodes back.
Ratings are up for two straight episodes, though probably not to the point of having Syfy reconsider. So far live viewings (the only thing Syfy cares about) went from 0.555 million in episode 5, to 0.625 million in episode 7. I wonder if the ratings reach something like 0.7 million for the finale if Syfy would have a decision on their hands...
The signage said it was the "Observation Deck." I did appreciate how it was done up a bit to look newer than the King. I imagine if we do see the bridge of that ship, it'll be pretty much the same with the situation table in the center put back (and an extra console in place of the refreshments counter). Speaking of sets, I know I cried wolf before, but the Navoo's bridge is definitely the Tycho Station command center. Once I realized it wasn't the UNN bridge, but had been replaced by CG in the season premiere, I'd just assumed they dismantled the set for stage space. I'm happier with this than when I'd thought it was the King's bridge. It makes a lot of sense that a Tycho-built spaceship would look like Tycho. In other Navoo na-news, I was delighted that a frequently-used greeble in the crawlspace Naomi was in at the top of the episode was the exact model of laptop cooling stand my Dad used to have. Since he got it several years ago, and I don't see it on a quick Amazon search, I guess the set department picked up a bunch for a song at a closeout store or something when they were discontinued or replaced with a new model by the manufacturer. BTW, considering the gore and the profanity, I'm a little surprised that they seem to have such a hard-stop on nudity rather than going all the way. I suppose the profanity is easy to remove, and nobody cares about the gore, because their content limits only seem to be set by SyFy and our weird American preoccupations. ETA: And now, listening to this week's Churn, the writers specifically call out how US networks get antsy about sex and cussing, but don't seem to care about all the bizarre, over-the-top violence they put into the show.

Indeed, the episode title, "Delta V," is the physics term for change in velocity, i.e. acceleration, deceleration, or a change in course. Presumably it's a reference to the sudden, intense deceleration that killed Maneo at the end, though it may also figuratively refer to the change in direction for the characters and events.
According to books that pretty much is what the slingshot ships are: a cockpit bolted to a drive and it usually is just the older fusion torch, not the Epstein drive. They are put together as cheap as they can be, usually using stolen parts. The idea is to fly a route utilizing gravity assists and avoid using the main drive as much as possible.

I actually wonder if he had the big beard when they hired him. They could have filmed the last bit first, then shaved his beard down for the shots earlier in the episode.

It should not affect them at all, I would think. SyFy was only the North American distributor, so presumably the international rights will remain where they are. (Netflix for most countries?) There is of course a slight chance that it could move to Amazon there too if they plan on widening their international streaming offerings.
