I'm curious. What is Hangar 18? I have never heard of this movie.

It’s an alien coverup movie from the eighties. Begins with a shuttle accident in space and the truth being hidden. Worth digging out if you can find it.

The Shadow with Alec Baldwin was supposed to start a franchise.

Same with The Sword and the Sorcerer.

And a few years back Paul Verhoeven declared interest in directing a third and final Schwarzenegger-Conan, and dammit, I really wanted to see that.

I can't believe I forgot Dredd. I haven't seen anythin lately, but there was talk of a Mega City One TV series a while back, and I believe there interest both from Karl Urban and from the people behind the show in bringing him back as Dredd. I don't think it is/would have been set in the same universe as Dredd, but at least it could be/have been more Urban as Dredd.
Damn, I hadn't heard about this. Fury Road is one of my all time favorite movies, and I was really looking forward to seeing what we got next.

This is another one that should have been on my list, I loved it and I'm still disappointed it didn't do better.

Tron Legacy. While I'm definitely okay with how it ended, there was an inkling that the story could continue with something of a reverse of the first two movies. There were plans for a third movie that probably would have done just that, but Disney had started talking to this bearded, flannel-wearing guy around this time...

Being that the movie was essentially a combination of two of the books, I'm surprised there hasn't been a sequel either. Being a series with 20 novels to it, it's a wealth of material to explore. Russell Crowe was great in it.

It came out at a similar time as PotC, right?
People expected something different and didn‘t like it as much?
Not enough overexaggerated swashbuckling and rum jokes?

Solomon Kane: The first movie wasn't bad, but it's basically an extended origin story so you don't actually get the Solomon Kane from the original stories until the very end. The movie ends where the stories begin, which is a bit frustrating. (Kind of like watching a Batman movie in which Bruce Wayne doesn't become Batman until the closing scene.)

Doctor Phibes Rises Again. Apparently there was a third film, The Brides of Doctor Phibes, planned back in the seventies, but it never happened.

The Shadow: Loved the whole look and feel of that movie. Shame we never got more SHADOW movies.

Jason and the Argonauts (1963): The classic Harryhausen film ends with a set-up for a sequel, with Jason heading back home to reclaim his kingdom from his evil uncle. The movie literally ends with Zeus predicting that many more adventures await Jason . . . but it was not to be.

I've always considered Theater of Blood with Vincent Price and Diana Riggs to be an 'unofficial' sequel to the Phibes movies.
I just pretend Phibes had reconstrucive surgery, remarried and had a daughter who was every bit as crazy as he was.
As for sequels we never got, we had 2010: The Year We Make Contact but for years there was talk about Tom Hanks, I think it was, wanting to film 3001; skipping over 2061.

Come to think of it, yeah, it did. And originally, I didn't like PotC very much as I was expecting something a bit more serious in nature and less cartoony than it was. I seriously would love to see a serious depiction of pirating rather than the romanticizing that was PotC. I remember seeing Master & Commander in theatres and feeling like it was a breath of fresh air. And from what I remember, it was generally well received. For a while, there were rumours of a potential followup that never materialized.

But back in November, Russell Crowe hinted that it would be back:

If Peter Weir doesn't return to direct it, I think Ridley Scott would be great.

I would've liked to have gotten another Jack Burton movie.

I really wanted a sequel to The Dark Knight Rises, with John Blake as the new Batman. Call it something like Dark Knight Legacy.

Completely agree on this one--a sequel should have happened.

Some good ones I agree with are already mentioned. I won't duplicate.

National Treasure 3(what is on page 33 of The Presidents Book?!)
Mummy 4(Frasier) -set up for S.Am mummy tale at 3s end
Terminator 5(post-Salvation, more Future War, John as solidified leader was on the table)
Ford led third film of Jack Ryan
    Enders Game 2
    Expendables 4 (might still happen)
Rambo 5 (battle with Mexican drug cartels)
Die Hard 6 (getting that core family back together, almost done after adult Lucy & Jack Jr shown)
Jack Reacher 3 (I'm in a minority that likes this I know)
Man of Steel 2 (is that still a possibility? Cavill's Supes redeemed is the best part of JL)
    Riddick 4

I understand xXx4 is possibly in the works, huge overseas numbers make it possible I hear. It is so recent that I don't think including it is fair to these others that have been "dead" as possibilities for some time.
