Two new Star Trek films in the works

Yep.

1) Star Trek 4 in Kelvin = JJ Abramsverse.
2) QT movie.

The first one has to wrap up the Kelvinverse and/or fold it back into the Prime timeline somehow. It will be the last one with that cast.

I've heard nothing along this line and I doubt they would do it anyway. People love the actors in this series. I doubt they intend to cut it off until it stops making money.

True QT's movie has nothing to do with the current cast, but that has not stopped Star Trek from following several different stories at the same time in the past. DS9 and Voyager ran as independent series during the same time Next Gen had movies out. Don't see why that can't happen again.

The super baddie had run it's course since TNG films and it's still hanging still with the current films. A Voyager film should have a high concept narrative and not an evil guy with a super weapon tale. Admiral Janeway returns to see her old ship with a new Captain, a spacial oddity is present somewhere out in the Delta Quadrant and Star Fleet is order her along with her old crew mates to investigate.

Agree on the tired super baddies, but star fleet trotting them out to investigate something any any crew and ship could do?

If a Voyager movie was to be made, it would be expected to have the ship itself, something of the Delta Quadrant, and the reunion of the cast. Was anything set up in the series that would lend itself to a continuation. Pursuing an otherwise lost cause or something? Another lost ship they could go and bring back, knowing what they know. That would be an excuse to include Barclay too.

I’m burned out on the ‘they alone can save the universe’ stories, and I suspect I’m not alone. Marvel are doing enough of that for everyone.

Some years after Voyager ended, I really wanted a Voyager movie.
But not now since it wouldn't involve all the main characters, only a "selected few".
I would rather see a movie with characters from TNG, DS9 and Voyager involved if they could persuade Stewart, Spiner, Frakes, Brooks, Mulgrew and some more to participate.
Most of all, I would like to see a new series in the 24th century with new characters which takes place some years after the Voyager crew arrived home in which some of the characters from TNG, DS9 and Voyager could show up from time to time.

Marvel are doing really well...

Yes, for those who like super heroes.

I’m really enjoying the Marvel stuff, but it would be a hiding to nowhere to try to follow that with similar huge budget high stakes movies, as WB are finding with the DC stuff.

Star Trek is back, it’s on TV, two movies going in to production. If they balls it up, spending too much money on not much substance, it’ll be gone for another decade.

Well, I'm not into super heroes that much.

I can stand the Superman movies, I liked the three first Batman movies, especially the one with Jack Nicholson as The Joker and I watched the Spiderman movies, more because of Kirsten Dunst than Spiderman himself. But that's enough for me.

As for Star Trek, they must come up with something which not alienate more fans than they already had. No more prequels and no more messing up established Trek things.

While we will never get a stand alone Voyager movie I always hoped for a film, or trilogy, that brought together all of the 24th century casts. Some threat to the Federation that needed all of the Picard, Sisko, and Janeway badassery thrown at it that they could muster. I think it's still possible. Something in a Destiny vibe, I think, could translate well to the big screen. High stakes and not everyone is going to come through unscathed like in TNG when it was on tv. I think budget wise it's doable as, let's be frank, most of our casts won't be commanding top dollar wage wise and SFX and CGI have come along way.

I like this idea.

I'm not sure, but I would think Star Fleet would ask a CO who had experience in that part of the Milky Way Galaxy to investigate. I don't require a sequel from some episode because I never thought VOY episodes were strong... well except for "Distant Origins", that story was tight and done. I want a fresh tale which doesn't gravy train those episodes especially when it dealt with 7 and the Doctor. Not interested in it at all, bring on something fresh and new like from "The Voyage Home".

Imo if you want new fans you need younger cast. The younger generation want people they can relate to, not a geriatric crew from decades ago. That may appeal to us older fans but the franchise is not worried about us. Most will stick around no matter what is put forward.

Discovery actually is not on TV.

Unless I’ve confused it with the microwave again, Discovery most certainly is on TV. It’s on a subscription streaming service, but what isn’t these days. Everything comes down the phone line now, but It’s no different to having a satellite subscription to watch Enterprise back in the day.

Yes its on a paid only service, not on network tv
